I Need Help picking out a car

Aright guys not piss anyone off but yes i dont own a car yet im 15 and know alot about cars for my age trust me just put me to the test....but i dont know what car to choose when coming to holding boost well like over 12psi or so.....i only hav 10K to spend cuz thats all ive saved up from working and i plan to turbo any car i own or if the car already has a turbo i plan to upgrade it...so plz give me some choices of what cars to choose from in my price range

well thx for being honest that'll be good and people will help. more then 12 PSI thats a lot lil buddy. as far as Honda motors go the most you can pull off stock is 12PSI with a b18a/b or b20. Hondas are best for N/A I think but turbos can and will haul ass. If you wanta go turbo I say something like 240sx or mk3 supra rx7 stock car RWD motors (mk3) turbo from factory and can be upgraded cheaply while with a N/A car needs to have comp ratio droped normally and a turbo added. Thanks ace but i think im gunna go with either the a 240sx with the sr20det or the 300zx both are amazing cars to me to hav as a first so thanks for your opinions.......i appreciate it

ive seen a 1989 240sx for 1800... it was in a nice condition too. look around for 240sx they are damn nice cars esp in drifting too

300zx is a nice car.. but i would get like a civic or crx, preferably SI since it already has the multi point injection and swap to an LS get some good forged pistons, rods even resleeve it if you want alot of boost and get a nice T3/T4 turbo setup, you will be very impressed

Don't bother with swapping engines and installing turbos into a Honda if you only have 10k, too much of a headache. If I were you I'd get something already turbo-friendly, and rwd if you don't get too much snow around your area. 240SX's are torquey little suckers stock, add a turbo and you'll be in heaven. They are aging cars though, so if you find one in good condition for under $4k consider yourself lucky. I drove one from Cali back here to Ohio and it was gutsy with enought power to break loose in corners if wanted, but they're bigger/heavier than our Civics. No big deal, but I've always been used to little cars.

First-gen DSM's can take a lot of boost and can be made to go pretty fast for relatively little money, but I've heard that they tend to have a lot of mechanical/electrical problems, aside from just being old. IMO, they're also ugly as sin.

A buddy of mine just bought a 1g Talon AWD for $1200. Only thing wrong with it is the paints a little messed up on the roof and hood, but works great mechanically. I've had horrible luck with dsm's, so my opinion's biased when I say they're junk, but a well-maintained car is a well-maintained car, and he found a well-maintained dsm.

dsm's are hit and miss...if you buy one id recommend an AWD one (or a turboed one at least). then youll have a fairly fast POS. ive seen way too many dsm transmissions in ziplock bags to buy one myself...

thanks for ur inout guys, i read about the eclipse it does hav bad reliability, i heard it can get "crank walk" and require a new head gasket and such.....and i plan on keeping this car a while so im lookin for somethin reliable, even tho when u a turbo a car or have one the reliability isnt gunna be the best...

I say just go out, and test drive when you get your permit/liscense... look in your classified ads. Or "Uncle Henry's (www.unclehenrys.com)" type book that lists individuals sales by make/year. or go on e-bay and look for a car.. you can find a very nice car for under 10,000 anywhere.. there are some nice early 90's RX-7's I've seen for $1500-5,000 they are a fun car to drive, but snow and such kinda suck.. and those rotary engines can be tuned up to 700hp (with use of a turbo).. I'm waiting for the "new" RX-7 to come out myself... which should have the larger (more torque/hp) renesis engine than the rx-8 has... (larger diameter rotor, and widened ports) I think they would be around 3516cc.... and if you read that the displacement on an RX-7 is 1.3 litres.. that's wrong.. it's actually double that. 2.6 litres.. I refer you to pg 14 of Sport Compact car magazines may 2003 issue..
