When I take off sometimes if I rev high for the launch there is a slight squealing noise that kind of sounds like something is slipping not unlike tires but it’s not loud enough and I know I am not spinning tires. It also seems to happen in other gears not only at launch but I don’t notice it as often. Someone ridding with me said his civic did it sometimes but couldn’t tell me what it was, can anyone here say?

me too, i have no idea what causes it. i always figured it was my blazing b18 trying to rip itself out of the front of my car. lol

it might be ur clutch. some clutches make a squealing noise when u first take off.

is it whistling or squealing? cause i know that when i do what you do i hear this whistling noise coming from the front. i haven't quite pin pointed it yet. also have you checked to make sure the belts are tight? sometimes its the most simple things.

Belts seems fine, they aren’t loose. It seems more like a squealing to me it really does sound like a belt slipping but I’m not sure, its done this since I bought it about a year and a half ago.

you guys might want to check your CV JOINT/BOOTHS(not sure if i spelt it rite but you knoe wat i mean), brake calipers, pads, rotors, tranny, and perhaps your axle for cracks, tears, aging, and wear.
hope that helped.

if u have a cai there might be some whisteling coming from that because when u get on the throttle the cai will suck up air which causes that.

I do have a AEM CAI so it could very well be that, never drove it without the intake.

my aem cai also has this wistleing, but then there is a squeeling noise when i start it up (mainly on cold mornings). i had never thought of the klutch, but i don't no much about them. But this squeeling noise is pretty loud sometimes.

yah i have compleatly looked over my entire front end and every thing is perfect... as far as axles, CV joints, motor mounts... all that crap. Mine is bone stock and has the stock air box on it and it still makes the noise. so CAI idea isn't what it is. I thought that maybe it was the clutch too, but wouldn't a clutch just shudder and stink if it was slipping? who knows.

sometimes when starting out and the revs drop my car will make a shutter kind of squeel which is normal since the car is recovering itself from the near stalling point 3-500rpm ,plus stuff in the dash (plastics) will shake and make rubbing (sqeeling noises) -- also if the belts get any moisture build up on them at all then they may squeel and they can do this for a while even at higher speeds. other than those symptoms I have no idea as to what may cause the problems you guys have. also if you just bought a car and are in doubt of the belts I would just replace em :2cents:
