Ok, my state (ILL) passed 2 really gay laws that went into affect jan. 1. The first one goes to new drivers that they can only have one non- family friend in the car when they are driving for the first 6 months. Second, no left lane cruising on highways :screwy: . Even if your not speeding if u stay in the left lane for long enough a cop could pull u over. if u have any annoying laws post them

well the first law is kind of weird but i can see why they aplied it....often young kids(and i'm not saying you) will get dares or encouragements from a car full of friends to do stupid stuff....

the second law is anything but stupid....its been used forever in europe and its proper lane etiquete...how do you think unlimited speeds can be maintaned whitout it on the autobahn

the left lane is for passing only...it doesn't matter how fast you are going its not a speeding lane its a passing lane...if people will learn this the traffic will be much smoother

Yea that 6-month law applies here too, except no friends except immediate family for us.

Here in California, if I remember correctly, 16 and 17 year olds (provisional license) may not drive between the hours 12am-5am unless accompanied by a 25 year old with driver license.
A 25 year old with driver license also needs to be travelling along when 16 / 17 old driver carries passengers under the age of 20.
Teenagers are among the most dangerous drivers on the road, and they do need ADULTS to watch out for them.

I don't know whats up with the left lane law here in California, but my driving instructor had told me on the first day, "left lane is the passing lane". Only use the lane for passing, not cruising. I am so pissed off at those people who drive in the left lane going 5 mph under the speed limit, and either talking on their cell phones or picking their nose!

i kinda disagree w/ that because teens, i dont think are the most dangerous... its the teens that have had their license for about a year and a half and they think they are the shit and are invinceble... but i know when i was 16 and i just got my license i was the best nicest freakin driver on the road but i did go through the asshole stage... anywho

california driving laws suck plain and simple

I do agree with you which over-confidence is a big issue related to accidents.
The teens are being considered as "dangerous" because of the statistics. And there is certainly exceptions to it.
Just as guys usually pay higher insurance rates than girls, because guys are considered more dangerous than the girls when behind the wheels.
California may have the most strict laws (isn't this what CA is known for?), and as for the other states, they are also coming up with new laws to set restrictions against teen driving. The governemnt just don't want too many of the "dangerous people" on the road

yes, teenage males are just about the worst thing in the world.
they are more likely to be bad drivers, criminals, and drug users/sellers than any other demographic.

In Pennsylvania you can pass in either lane on a 2-pane divided highway, but it is still proper etiquette to stay right/pass left.

I dont know why they charge guys more than girls on insurace. I saw a show on the discovery channal and they proved that men are much better at driving then woman. Also their they ones who are always driving with friends and puting on make up and talking on the cell phones. About 3 years ago my mom and I got rearended by a girl trying to put a type in her type player. She was in this big chevy SUV. We where stoped at a light behind some cars and couldnt go any where. Thank god Audi makes a solid car!

Edit: Not trying to start a fight with the girls on this forum :icon16:

NO, i agree that teen males are pretty stupid and will do almost anything to impress there peers. so our women, the girl i ride to school with has had her lincese for like 2 weeks and speeds horribley even when the roads here are all completely covered with ice. but who the hell whats to get a ride to school with there parents or take a hour long bus ride. Not many people are following it but its on our minds. our school does seatbelt stings outside by the school with like 10 cops and undercover cars.

yeah my sister put her car into a parking lot pole and she saw a young girl just not paying attention ram right into the back of a corvette...

i think guys are better drivers then girls because they actually care about driving...

I think it WAS an Eclipse.

But can't you tell? The doors fold down and the hands come out, then the hood folds down to become the chest, the back end swings down and splits into the legs, the head pops out, and your ready to fight the decepticons!

We dont have any stupid rules that I know of, but Dallas cops are assholes and will pull you over for like, five over the limit. Then there are the Ft Worth cops who pass you when your doing 85. I love Texas.

No. It's that simple, just no.

Of course Europe would use this law on a road with no friggin speed limits, but in America we don't have such treasures. Or at least not many.

If you're the only car on the highway you can drive in whatever the hell lane you want, so long as it is still legal in your state. Now, if you're cruising down the left lane and another car behind you is moving faster than you (or was, before they got stuck behind you) then you have to move over. But as soon as they go by you can move right back over. Passing is done in the left lane only, true, but if there is no passing to be done then do as you will.

As long as you're still going as fast or, preferrably, faster than the cars in the right lane, it's all good. The golden rule of the road: Preserve the Natural Flow of Traffic. If you're holding someone up when you're in the fast lane, then move over for 10 seconds and you're set. Otherwise you're fine, zoom in your left lane. Have a blast.

I think it's bullshit that you can't drive around naked in California...effing public indecency laws.
