drum brake rebuild?

would buying the disc brake conversion actually be worth the high price tag for just everyday driving? or would it be better to save my money and rebuild the drum brakes? 87 GT
how many lugs? 4 or 5?

i wouldn't put disks in an everyday driver, not if it already has drums. too expensive. the biggest expense you'll have with your rebuild is your time. shoes and springs and even cylinders aren't all that expensive. besides, changing to disks in the back won't change your braking, at least not substantially. bottom line, at least to me, not worth the money

oh and by the way... stick with 4 lug. if you change it in the back, you will want to do it in the front too, which means all new rotors and hubs. major $$

well, if you NEVER drive your car hard, are NOT concerned with safety (shorter stopping distance) don't care about looks, then no, they are pointless.
personally, I love mine. I have the 4 lugs because I didn't want to have my wheels re drilled and I REALLY didn't want to get new ones, as mine is the only 5.0 with the wheels I have that I have ever seen.
It isn't THAT expensive, and not terribly difficult to do. a friend and a weekend is all it took me. I would recommend stainless steel brake lines when you do the swap. oh, and make sure the kit you get has a new master cylinder as well.
