Service 4wheel drive light problem

Just thought I would add this to the forum, in case anyone else runs across this problem.

I have a 2003 Trailblazer LS with less than 12,000 miles, and my service 4wheel drive came on last week. As this is the 3rd problem I've had with this truck I immediately called the dealer and arranged to bring it in. They had to reprogram the transfer case, per Bulletin #02-04-21-006B. Hopefully this will be the last problem I have with this truck....it's too new to be causing me grief.

I have also had to bring this truck for two other problems. One, my brake system warning chime and light came on, and wouldn't go off. Turns out I needed a new master cylinder, it was installed at the factory incorrectly, this was at 9,000 miles. At 6,000 miles my tail light on the passenger side shorted out, and had to be replaced.

After reading some of these other posts, I'm scared what's going to go wrong next on my Truck. I really like the Truck, but I don't have a lot of confindence in it, after the problems I've had, and the issues I've read about here.

Well, I know how you feel! Probably really pissed off! I have a 2003 LS model too. This TB has been in the shop 3 times for the fourwheel drive light coming on. I have had other issues with my TB that I will not get into right now. Remember to keep all of your service reports for future action if you keep having problems....

We had the same problem with our 02 trailbalzer the first time they reprogrammed the transfer case, the second time they replaced the computer the third time they finally fixed by replacing the ignition switch.

Sounds like your dealorships are doing all that work to get hours. The problem lies in a faulty electronic switch. Take them it to a different dealership and tell them the light keeps coming on and Trailblazers are known for haiving bad electronic switches and that should solve it.

Good luck.

Service 4wd light came on our new 04 TB with 100 miles on it. I cussing down the road to my stop. Came back out an hour later, started her up and the light was off and power restored to the switch.

We now have 700 miles on it and the light hasn't come back on so I haven't taken it in yet. :screwy:

I have an '03 LT and my Service 4wd light has come on twice now, ~ 6 months ago and again today. Both times it is only on for a short time and then goes off. The led by the switch also goes out when this happens. Took it in (only 3000 miles left on warranty) and they replaced the Transfer Case Module and reprogrammed.

We bought our 2004 Trailblazer in Feb and have been in the shop every month since March. First it started with the lights dimming and then the 4 wheel drive light, then the check engine light, the clock always resets it's self back to 12AM, and then to top it off the lights won't stay on at all when it is in the automatic position. We have been to the dealership several times as the vehicle is under warranty still. We only have 3000 miles left on the warranty. The dealership tells us they can't find anything wrong with the vehicle. They even took it home over night and still nothing? This is our family car. We are not very pleased at all, especially when we are making payments for the next several years!!!

We are in the middle of taking GM to an Arbitration Hearing next week. Has anyone been through this before? Any advise you can give us?

Please call GM if you have similar problems because that is the only way we are going to get these issues fixed.
