 I'm Catholic too, so I know what you mean. Was baptized in the faith. I believe in my religion but don't follow or agree with everything in the faith. I chose to be confirmed while i was in high school.

I remember going to a Catholic funeral of a great Aunty a million times removed and thinking "The only person left to speak that knew her is the family cat."
Its shocking how longwinded everything takes. I think thats why the Church is so rich; they bore you into paying to make it stop! :D

I was christened and went to Sunday school as a child, but I don't go to church anymore or have a religion as such.

I agree with Jim, for the most part. Go because you want and like to go. I am Christian and go to church every Sunday some times I don’t feel like it but I wind up enjoying it.

Wow, you are AWFULLY harsh on ANYONE who does see things your way. Good thing you added, "Just a question" at the end, other wise you might look like a jackass.
Doesn't it suck to know you have been lied to all your life, huh? Well, I admit i can not PROVE anything I belive. Thats why its called faith. But i would love to see you PROVE one thing i belive as wrong.
So please, SHOW me where I have been LIED to.

. . . My parents are Buddhists and it's been going way back in their culture (we're vietnamese..) I've been growing up in a very religious Buddhist home but I guess it's cool that my parents want me to believe in Buddha yet they aren't forceful like a lot of other parents. It's not that I don't believe in God, it's just that I don't agree with a lot of Bible quotes. To make matters worse, I live in a town where Christianity is very forceful...ehh..drives me insane. I've been to a few Christian church camps growing up and I find it interesting...Anyway, Damn, Man, now I feel like an oddball :screwy: because you all are listing every religion BUT Buddhism ...
well at least I have a fun car? lol

I agree and understand completely what you are saying. I go to basically hear about God and have my time with him. There are always these people who(towards us who believe that is)say that "there is always time for God. I go to church to make my time. I do agree that the temple of which God speaks in the bible is no building but ones own heart.

I was baptised and confirmed in the Anglican (Episcopal) church. I went to a Christian school and I find theology interesting (all religions). However, in my cynical dotage I know too much about Judeo- Christian belief systems and all their attendant shortcomings, contradictions and manipulation to believe in any of it.
So I am an athiest and very happy to be one.

Buddhist. I grew up Catholic, but never really got much from it. Too much faith required. I stumbled across a book on Buddhism in my mid-late teens, and started reading out of boredom. After about ten minutes, I thought "This makes so much sense." It was at that moment that I realized I had been a Buddhist all along.
To me it doesn't matter what religion you follow (or don't follow) just as long as you feel spiritually fufilled and at peace.

Hrmm I find topics which come under religion very interesting indeed. Im glad that people find a way to have hope through rough times and keep faith in their desired God/s. However in my personal opinion I do not belive in the catholic faith and find the bible contradictory for me to take it as a truth.
Before college I went to a catholic high school and found it sad how people so (to me what seems) blindly following and unquestioning what surely needs to be questioned. Throughout the ages *some* people of the church abused such beliefs to gain power over the faithful, religion is a powerful thing. Be it catholic, hindu, buddhist etc..
The most appealing of religions I have found though seems to be Buddhism..
For me I dont need to put my faith into a higher being because I rely on myself and only myself
However those who do choose to follow a religion I respect their decision as we are all different and no doubt have reasons why they've followed certain paths of life

Pentacostal.
Why?
Because I feel at home there and believe a lot of their teachings follow the Bible more closely than any other I have been to. I don't completly agree with everything but I disagree with less in the church I go to than any other I have been to.
Plus the Pastor is willing to take time to discuss anything I disagree with and when we disagree he is willing to accept our disagreement instead of trying to make me think the way he thinks.
