Didnt watch the vid yet but the STI is a better car and I would take it over the SRT4. I mean the SRT is a good match for the WRX but STI? no. The STI I feel is one of the few cars that is worth its price tag. Its just a whole lotta car. So sure the SRT-4 is about 10k cheaper and with that cash you could make it faster but hey the mini is 15k cheaper Im sure you could make that faster too with 15k. However like someone on here said before how many people buy a car all at once? If someone buys a SRT its not because they have a extra 10k for mods its because its all they can afford. If I had 10k extra I would buy the the STI.

well most of those street racing vids are bad...but in this one you can see clearly the last two runs...
its not like those million vids out there where you cannot even tell if there is a race

i thought the video was quit good. it shows the STi rapping the SRT 4 from a dig. but once from a roll. the SRT4 would win.

Is the SRT modded or stock?
Steiner

That SRT-4 is lightly modded. He has the Stage 1 kit, CAI, and AGP WGA. That's about $500-$600 in bolt-on mods. The STi has an HKS Cat back, Blitz DTT-DCII, and a Greddy boost gauge. Not sure how much that stuff costs.
The STi owner started his own thread on the SRT forums to answer questions and shoot down the trolls.

very typical result considering both those cars's design....
srt4 monster from a roll
srti launching like a catapult from a stop

Still with 300hp I would have thought the STI would still have won from a roll.

AWD is not the preferred drivetrain for rollons and topend speed.
I just am waiting to see when somebody can find a way to have an on the fly disengaging awd system (awd in 1st and 2nd gear, then rwd the rest)

I'm guessing that the STi is probably pushing around 310hp-315hp at the flywheel because of his mods. The Subaru also weighs about 300lbs-500lbs more than the SRT-4 if I remember correctly.
That particular SRT-4 is probably pushing between 285hp-300hp at the flywheel because of those mods. I know people are gonna say "no way!" because Dodge says the '03 car has 215hp stock and those bolt mods do not equate to an 85hp gain. However, in reality those Dodge ratings are ultra conservative. Most '03 SRT-4 Neons have been dyno'd at 215-225hp. If Dodge rated horsepower like Subaru (thank god they don't for the sake of my insurance premiums) then the SRT-4 would most likely be in the EVO-ish 260hp-280hp range depending on the year.
This results of this race aren't that suprising. Imagine if the Subaru STi had some go fast bolt-ons for his turbo. It would be the Subaru every which way...from a dig, from a roll, backwards, forward, and side to side. Those STi's are the real deal IMO. The only thing the SRT-4 has on it is a radio. ;)

How does Audi do it then? The S4 has a wicked top end and top speed. I like your idea abou the STI, I mean it is already a RWD based AWD system so a swich or something maybe could be riged up.

don't forget that the sti doesn't have bad top end....its actually quite good.....its just that the srt4's top end is ridiculous especially with bolt ons
also the only way to disengage on the fly is to get a new center diff that can do that or perhaps modify the current one if posible to switch 100% or close to it to the rear wheels
a center diff from a gtr or vr4 might do the trick since this is what they do...however since they are automatic the trasnplant off all the electronics could prove imposible

Those neons are a joke. Cheap+Fast seems to equal ugly at chrysler.
I'd rather have a Focus SVT because Ford put their money in the right places for a quick affordable car. Or a used civic Si for that matter. Mini, yeah... I just don't want to sound like a broken Mini record. I like to give other good cars that I'll never own their props.

ok ok shut up kids.....first off the STI would put the SRT-4 in its place if they were both stock i mean come on 225hp vs 300hp and yes i know its not all about hp its about the weight and torque of both vehicles but the sti is pushin 300 foot pounds and i dont know what the neon is pushin, also the awd in the sti weighs it down about 300-400lbs giving the neon an advantage but if they were to both race stock the sti would eat the srt-4

Bunta that is the most retarded thing that i think i have ever heard come out of a gear head. Seriously you would rather have a naturally asperated zetec p.o.s. under your hood than a turbocharged engine. The power difference is massive, and also the ease of tuning a turbo engine are both great factors. The best thing you could do to an svt focus would be to turbocharge its girly 170 hp engine. Then what do you have? A turbo focus with so much torque steer it would be unbearable. So next time think before you say anything like endorsing an svt p.o.s.

ok i'm confused were did me or steiner post in our threads or threads' titles please compare the srt4 to other cars or srt4 is the ultimate car better than anything...so why the flaming
i'm getting sick of this...we have several threads comparing the srt4 with other cars both here and in car comparison....please use those threads
in this vid the srt4 won the race from a roll...show me where the f i've said that the sti is crap...i love the sti and the evo...heck i would take them over an srt4 if given the money....this does not make the srt4 a pos...its an amazing car
if you would like to make derogatory comments do it in the apropriate threads and please try to post something more inteligent that its just a neon or chrysler cannot make good car...try to actually bring some proper info to the table instead of just bashing

Whatever. This all leads to a discussion about over-powered front wheel drive cars, which I am not interested in at all. If I had a front wheel drive car, like a civic, I'd want to at least gain pleasure from hearing intake hiss from a multi-throttle intake. Hopefully the SRT-4 will be the fastest front driver ever, and somebody will get a clue and make fast cars rear driven and let front wheel drive be just an innovation for fun put-puts again.
Screw it, the Mini has the best chassis in it's class, and no torque steer. Therefore, it rules FF (wish it had a real motor).
NOTE: this is a reply to that guy that called me retarded, not the thread starter. I got exited. Yes, I've seen the SRT-4 smoke lots of cars at the drag strip.

and i agree with you RWd is a better perfomer....but by keeping it FF the srt4 could still be as cheap as it is plus you can use it in the winter...also most people can control a FF car easier

I don't think anybody would argue with that. The STi is the better, faster, more complete performance car. There's a saying though, "you run what you brung"...and in this case both cars were lightly modded.
