I just got a new hood and bumbers for my car. I want to get a new paint job for the car but want to prep the car myself because my budget is limited. Can someone give me step by step directions to prep my car. I also have a minor dent how would i go about fixing that?

where is the dent? Ayso, most paint shops can't paint over rattle can primer paint. If you have a air compressor, get a paint gun, and ayso go to a automotive paint store, and get primer and laqure thinner (make sure everything you buy is compatible with the body shop you are going to use. Spray this over the sanded down car. after pulling all your trimm off and tapeing up everything you don't want painted. Then since you have already got the spray gun go on and paint it whatever color you want...and do 6-9 layres for that brilliant look... then heres the part where I always fuck up. so if you have to ask this question you will fuck up too. spraying the clear coat, let the professionals do it.

Get 80 grit sandpaper, sand the clear coat off of the car. Then take 220 grit sandpaper...sand the car again to get rid of the scratches. Primer the car...for the dent, if it's a small dent, you can use Bondo.

I don't have an air compressor or a spray gun. I wouldn't mind purchasing one though. What are some good brands of air compressor and sizes of the tanks? How much will it cost? How long will the compressor last? The dent on my car is on the passenger door very minor. Will bondo work? Will it be visible?

Yes Bondo will work, just make sure you do a good job on sanding it down.
