With the key on engine off, can you hear something clicking when you push the button

let me do some research... in the meantime just try this for shits and giggles. Have a buddy sit in the drivers seat and just push the button repeatadly. While he does this get under it and tap on the little eletric motor on the back of the transfer case. and see what happens.
Andy.

you should look for a bad wire connection on the passenger side kick panel. My 90 bronco had the same problem.there will be a plastic connectio with two wire feed into it.I have a fullsize but I bet it is still the same setup.I got a switch off a bronco2 for mine but found the wire problem fixed it.
