vehicle,
1997 1/97
nissan
altima
2.4 lt
automatic
vehicle came in on hook, cust. stated he went to aunts house spent night, next morning vehcle would not run, would crank but not run, he replaced coil but did not fix problem,
i scanned vehicle no codes.
i started diagnostic procedures (here is a list in order of tests performed and out come)
1.tested for spark
good but seemed a little weak
charged battery and tested again
spark seemed to get better also found that with out cap on testing for spark at coil it was alot stronger. checked rotor and found a little coroded replaced rotor
pulled all plugs and we found they were fuel fouled replaced plugs this really seemed to help spark.
2.checked 1deg. signal at dist.
good signal
3.checked 180 deg. sig.
good signal
4.checked injectors
good
5.compresion test
95 105 95 95 figure little low because of all the fuel in cylinders but this should be enough to run.
6.fuel pressure
very good
7.crank shaft position sensor
good
8.timing
good
9.throttle position
good

now when we pull plug and ground it to side of tube we get a good combustion (very good). we droped the exhaust to rule out any restrictions did not help.now we have spark fuel compesion all in time this vehcle should run but will not, any help would be great!

Sounds like you need to replace distributor, drain oil and change oil filter (fuel contamination). If no fix, possible wiring problem to ECU or bad ECU.
