Installation of serpentine belt

I need to know how the correct way of installing a serpentine belt on a 1996 Chevroelt Blazer with 4.3 liter Vortec with air conditioning. The diagram on the fan shroud is gone and we have no idea how to place the belt. Also the alternator is on the left side of the motor when facing the front of vehicle. Is this normal?
