Another good engine gone bad: http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB86&Number=420041&Forum=All_Forums&Words=12046&Match=Username&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=416570&Search=true#Post420041
The only way a connecting rod bearing is going to "spin" out of place is due to lack of lubrication. With these engines it's part design flaw (oil consumption) and part operator error (gotta check your dipstick!!)
1) If you are doing extended high speed driving, check your oil level ATLEAST every fuel fill up!
2) Never trust quicky lube type places. Check oil more often if you use them. They typically use lower quality bulk oil which can burn off faster.
G/luck!
