I'm trying to replace the alternator in my 92 GMC Sonoma. I can't get the tension off of the tensioner. Do I loosen the bolt in the middle of the spring loaded part, do I take the tensioner right off, or does it spring out of the way? So far I've tried to loosen the bolt but it seems to have been installed by the governator. I also tried to pry it out of the way, but can't leverage it on anything. I've even tried swearing and yelling at my dog.
Any help will be greatly appreciated by me and my dog.
Kind Regards

Well I'm surprised that the dog hasn't bit you yet...you have probally hurt the poor things feelings...apologize to your dog first then I will tell you what to do..
OK..now that the dog feels better.
There should be a 3/8 square hole or a bolt head on the pulley end of the tensionor...use that to push against the spring tension to remove the belt...
Sic um Fido!
