I have a 94' se g.p. with the steering wheel radio controls. My radio keeps changing stations because there is a short in it or something. Does anyone know how to cut the seek control on the steering wheel with out disturbing the volume because the volume works fine. It has an airbag if that means anything. Any help would be great!!!!

I have installed radios into 94 gp's before as well as 93's and 97's. The color of the wire that you are looking for is orange. that one is the one that is involved with the radio. See if that helps out any.

My 93 se had a pull off cover that was in the middle of the steering wheel, does yours have that type of airbag, or is it the other featured airbag where it doesn't allow you to really get into wheel? If i were you, since you only want to disable the one button, is contact gm by email and ask for a wiring scematic of the steering wheel. This should talk about where to locate where all the wires merge into the radio and probably even give you the exact color of the wires. My experience has been with the aftermarket radios using wire harness kits. The orange wire in the harness was always intended for the steering wheel. however, i know for a fact that the orange wire controls the entire steering wheel's buttons, so cutting that may not do you any good if you want to keep the volume button. The area you are looking for could possibly be in the steering column which you might be able to remove without disturbing the air bag. But definitely contact gm and ask them if they could supply a simple schematic or possibly maybe they'll even tell you exactly what you need to do. Good Luck!

Well, that problem is with the control itself. The control is inserted on the steering wheel. Just take it out and disconnect it until you can replace it. Do not cut any cables. Just take the control out, disconnect it and get a new control when you can... That would work until you replace the contro;
