Wierd sound at startup 99 E320

whenever i go to start my car, it makes this wierd clink and dosent start. it does this every time you turn the key, about 3 times. i cant figure out what it is. any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it's a diesel sometimes needing the glow plugs changed can cause this.

sounds like you need a battery or a starter

its not a deisel, but i do think that MBTech is right it sounds like a gear mesh problem between the starter motor and the flywheel.
