whats the difference between the 2 engines? apart from power?
also, is it possible to build an HO w/ just the 5.0L?

one last question.
can ne1 give me info on the new 5.0 that coming out? like what cars gonna use it, diffences between that and the old 5.0, and/or a link.
thx in advance.

heh... looks like a 4.6 that's been stroked, and happens to displace 5 liters. what a crock... i miss the good 'ol pushrod 5.0. only difference with this one as compared with other mod motors, is that it has distributor-type ignition. basically, this is just a carbureted 4.6 with a dist =)

So far Ford has said nothing about the 5.0 cammer being put into any production vehicles, and I doubt it will be. They created it to sell as a crate motor (albeit a very expensive one, as in more than 10 grand complete) to help them get some publicity, not to make money off of it or to put in any vehicles. The difference between the 302 and the 5.0 HO was the HO used a different firing order (the same as the 351W), all 5.0 HO's except for early-early 80's mustangs had roller cams, the 5.0 HO's also used a reverse rotation water pump and front cover, as well all the HO's and any 302's from 82 and up use a 50oz imbalance instead of a 28oz like earlier models.

well, the new cobra's ..the ones that will be based off of the 2005 mustang will feature 5.0L engine in them, don't know if it is this particular engine, but they did say 5.0L. I think this engine isn't bad, 5 liter, making 420 horses.

The 5.0L cammer crate engine will not have a distributor.
the one shown at SEMA had a carb and a dist. on it because they chose to do so.
It is basically a 4.6 cobra engine with 5.0L on it.
but 420HP is no slouch. OHC is nice actually, and the DIS is simpler than a standard ingintion.
add that to the fact that the stock internals can take 9 second passes and you have a seriously badass motor.
unfortunately it will cost 15k for a complete engine.

i c... thx for the info on the new 5.0
But i wanna know about the 5.0 vs the 5.0 H.O.
you say that the fire order is different. i wanna build a 5.0 H.O. what do i do? do i get a 5.0L H.O/5.8L cam and change the the plugs?
i asking b/c right now it looks like i gonna get a 87-92 f150 w/ 5.0 or the crown vic(problably the crown vic b/c i love sleepers :smokin: )
again, i ask in this forum b/c ppl in this forum know more about these engines.
thx

I`m under the impression that the pistons are different between the 5.0 and 5.0 ho. One of them (i think it`s the ho ) is dished.

where did you hear that? i doubt they would put a 15k engine in a car that costs less than 35grand.

Good thing there isn't even going to be an 05 cobra, and when the 06 comes out its going to be a 4.6 4V or a 5.4 4V.
