ignition

hello,im a belgian and i have a question,i started my s10(1988 2.5l) and when i came home i couldn't turn the motor off,the ignition where u put the key in is stock i cant turn it back to put the engine off.Can somebody help me to tell me how i can get to this part.I've already took my steering wheel off and now there is a plastic cover i cant get of,ive tried putting a screwdriver onder it ,but im wurried to brake it.Thanks for the help.

well what you need to do is get a tool that pushes back that plastic piece, it's called a theft retainer ring, basically when you put this tool on it pushes the plastic piece down and then there is a metal snap ring you need to remove with a screwdriver or pick, then that will allow you to get the plastic peice off and get on with what your doing.
