First off, I am a car dealer in Japan and I primarily sell to Marines on a military base close by. Lately I have been selling a lot of GTRs and the like.
About 2 months ago this 19 year old kid comes to my lot talking big smack that he has been a street racer for 8 years and blah blah blah. Usually I would ignore him, but he was persistant enough about wanting a specific vehicle that I went out and got him a 91 R32GTR with a bunch of goodies on it for 9500. All the time he is talking big smack about how he is the ultimate street racer and stuff, but the day he gets the car, he complains that the idle isn't "smooth" . Duh. It has cams we tell him. Then he complains the clutch rattles when he pushes it in. Duh. Twin Plate anyone?
This goes on for damn near a month. Meanwhile I keep hearing how this idiot is cutting prople off and doing all kinds of jackass stuff. Anyways, last Friday this asswipe goes out and causes a 7 car pileup on the highway. he hurts a japanese guy and fucks up a beautiful car.
I seriously think I messed up. It shouldn't be my position to tell someone what they can and can't buy, but all the warning signs were there. Now there is a guy in the hospital over new years because some kid thinks he is Paul Walker. Look, and please heed this advice: If you are not mature enough to look out for the safety of yourself and others, then don't fucking drive. There is a time and place to drive fast, AND 3AM IN THE FREEZING RAIN IS NOT THE TIME. I will never sell another car like this to someone who I think can't handle it. I don't want anything like this on my conscience again.
People can be real dumbasses

If you'd sold him a 1300cc automatoc he'd still have ended up totalling it somehow, from what you are saying.
It's not a car dealer's responsibility to match the vehicle to the driver's ability. If some young punk with more money than sense wants a car that is beyond his abilities, let him buy it.If you don't someone else will always step up and take his money. It's no more your fault than it is Nissan's for making the damn thing.
Any blame and guilt should rest soley with the driver. He seems to have the wrong atitude to be driving anything.

Naki is right, you can't blame yourself because some kid wanted the car and couldn't handle it.

Yea...what they said. Its not your fault that the kid was a dumbass. I know he hurt a lot of people, but he did ultimately (hopefully) learn from his mistake. If you hadnt sold him that car, he would have gone to somebody else, and then he would have done the exact same thing.
