Antenna replacement?

The antenna on our 2000 XE broke off the other day. It looks like I'll have to go up through the fender (after removing the dirt splash coverings) to replace it. Is this correct? Is there an install guide somewhere on the net?

And also has anyone done a power antenna install? The antenna isn't too far from the head unit, so does the stock unit have a power antenna control line?
