98-02 accord 4cylinder vtec question!!!

my friend has a 98 lx 4cyl vtec accord we took off the stock box and put a cone filter and we can't hear the vtec are u supposed to hear it on this motor like u can on the single cam vtec civic engines? or not well he ordered a aem cold air intake and dc header im curious after adding these parts would we hear his freaking vtec and if someone know's when is it supposed to kick in it his motor redlines at 6200 rpms

ok...well i had a mildly modified accord and i could not physically hear it engage. i must need a hearing aid.

what year and type of accord was it and what mods did you have man?

I think the vtec is more noticeable in a DOHC than an SOHC, which is what that Accord is. 2.3L 16V SOHC VTEC

I thought this was going to be a valid technical question... I duno should it make sound duh duh? Ok not that I am done being a smart a$$...
You should feel the car take off ~ 4000-4500rpms if you can't...is the check engine light on? I mean it isn't like hitting a button with squeeze going into the engine, but you can feel it.
