I was wondering how I can up the boost on my 95 GST. I have put a 14B turbo in it and a mbc but the most I can boost is 5-7 psi, when I punch it my boost guage will go up to around 9-10 psi but will drop off to about 5 and hold it :banghead: . Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What kind of boost controller do you have? Did you check for vacuum leaks?

I have no idea what kind of boost controller i have. I bought it off ebay. Everyone i talked to about it said that it was a good one so i decided to try it. I made the pressure tester off www.vfaq.com . I did have some leaks but the ones that i noticed i fixed, there might be more.

are you noticing more power now or before you put in the mbc.. stock boost should be 8-10 on the 1st gens i thought

I put the mbc in before I put the new turbo in, but I could takeout the mbc and see how it runs.

If you run a line right from the manifold (or BOV line, etc) to the wastegate actuator on the turbo, you should see roughly 9 psi on a 14b. At some point, around 5000 rpm perhaps, boost should "creep" up until redline. If its lower than this your guage is bollixed (you arent using the stock guage hopefully ;) ) or you have bigtime leaks. It would take some seriously huge leaks to limit boost to 5-7 psi, mind you. On the other hand, a small leak on the line to the guage can make it read 5-7 psi, while you may be running 25 :icon16: Another possibility is a banjaxed wastegate actuator. They are cheap, and any DSMer thats been through the ringer a couple times over will have a handful in some random box in the garage. Another fairly common cuase for this is the little rubber spacer that goes in the inlet where it attaches to the turbo gets hosed and blocks part of the turbo. It will act just as you describe. And check for the obvious. No bent or damaged compressor blades, etc.

The wastegate actuator has a small dent in it, could this be a problem? I have the actuator from the stock turbo will this work on the 14B?

COuld be the problem, who knows. The stock actuaotor will not work, its from a garret turbo and the 14b is mitsu.
