1961 Ford Ranchero "Rat Rod"

Now this was a fun project that probably took me longer than it should've. It just kind of got shelved after I got the body painted and the interior built. But then, needing shelf space, I knuckled down and got the engine and chassis built. So, it's finished. Here it is.
The whole idea here is to make a sixties "rat rod" shop truck for a custom shop. The paint is two different shades of primer; black primer and custom mixed raspberry. The wheels are Firestone skinnies on chrome reversed steelies, and the engine is a dressed up Chevy 427 (in the kit, luckily) with a detail swiped from an AMT 1967 Mustang GT kit and a parts box air cleaner. The chassis is box stock and finished in Tamiya paints. Every part is actually molded to the chassis, so it's a lot like building a new Tamiya 350Z. Enjoy the pics.

Cool!
Redline radials on grey/polish torq thrusts would be a good look on that, too... And maybe a crate, a greasy, half torn down V8, and some slicks on steels in the tray, that kind of stuff would rule too, as would some sort of company logo stuff on the tailgate - like the logo and name/address of the speedshop.
I think I might get one, its nigh on identical to the aussie falcon utility of the same era.
another rhd conversion...

I've been thinking about custom shop graphics and lots of bits and pieces for the bed.
I like the Torq-Thrust idea, too. Or maybe some Cragar SS's?

Nah, go the torq-thrusts, waaay more tough - the cragars are too flashy, in my opinion.
definitely go with the period race parts bed load (suggestions - headers, V8 motors, rear axles, chains, some coker slicks on steels...) and the signwriting, would top off a great model!
