1998 Blazer-Keyless entry and decode VIN

First let me say, what a great source of information. I have a 98 Blazer/4Dr/4WD. It does not have keyless entry (AUO) and I need it!! I have done a search on this site for keyless entry and read all I could find. I have the remotes and I have the instructions to program them. So the question is this, if I can come up with the module (any suggestions or part # info??), is my truck pre-wired to accept it? What does it take to get the truck to recognize that the module has been plugged in? ANY help or suggestion is greatly appreciated!! If it helps any, my VIN is: 1GNDT13W1W2219083. If there is anything you can tell me about that VIN, I'd appreciate that too as I am trying to decode all the RPO's from the glovebox. Is there a master list somewhere? Thanks in advance and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! John ([email protected])

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunatly, I know how to program the transmitters on the key fobs. I need to figure out how to get my vehicle to recognize when I plug in a reciever (black box) module under the dash. I do appreciate your taking the time to try to help me!!

I have the control module (black box) and it plugged in and clipped onto the under-dash panel just like it had always been there. All I need to do is get my blazer to recognize that it's there. Could I do this if I had a good scan tool for the OBD-II? There must be some way to tell the computer that a RKE module has been added isn't here?? If I could get the darn thing active I have the instructions to program the remotes themselves. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!!

You need to take it to the dealer and they will turn the proper bits on in the PCM... Only way to do it...Or just get an aftermarket one... Mine had the factory keyless entry, but I went with aftermarket because I wanted my remote start...
