How do the 1st gen 4g63 manifolds differ between the auto and the stick? I know the motors in automatics get the smaller turbo, cams and injectors.I just want to know why the manifolds are different is it the mounting holes for the turbo or O2 housing or what? I need a guru to answer this for me. I really don't know if they are or not :loser: but I was told they were. Thanks!

yes they are different, the manifold is smaller in the automatic cause they have a smaller turbo --- the opening on the compresser housing is smaller

Thankyou for the reply. My brother has a manifold from his awd tsi 5 speed.I guess he upgraded to a 2nd gen manifold.Hmm maybe I should hit him up for his manifold and 14b.Thanks again. :smokin:

Just a minor correction, its the turbine housing inlet that is smaller. :)

a friend of mine dropped his cracked 1g manifold off at my house today for welding and porting. I fixed the cracks, and started to port it. There are tons of casting flaws!!!!!!!! I'm sure you could find a lot of power right here in the manifold. There's a casting "step" in the outlet which bolts to the compressor housing, the port openings don't match, and there are casting tabs inside the runners. The 02 housing isn't as bad, but it has a quite abrupt 90 deg. angle. Check out 2g manifolds which may be better (?) and EVO manifolds; which also may be better, but I haven't seen them first hand.
