Riced out Ford!?!?

On my home yesterday I am sitting at the light to make the turn on to state street in American Fork to go home. Most of the people that get in the left lane need to be in the right lane to make a turn ahead and try to beat the person in the right. Well I am sitting in the right lane when a riced out Ford Taurus station wagon, had to be a 98 or newer. It was lowered with huge rims, he had PZeros on it, quad exasust coming out the back, sounded like a go cart as he revved it up, he has stickers on it for things I knew he didn't have, some including the ususal suspects like NOS, Centerforce, K&N, TRD, and he had an SVT badge on it as well. The guy looked like he wa in his thirtys and made me laugh.

The light turned green and I took off the line like a usually do, shifting at 2500 RPM, so I am not even really put ANY power into it at all. All the while his engine is screaming next to me and we are neck and neck. He gives me this look like he is laughing at me. Now I am not going to put up with that. I am going 45 in fourth gear, so I drop it into second mashed the gas and with cloude of tire smoke walkeda way like he wasn't even moving. That was the biggest poser I have EVER seen. Worse than any import ricer.

Polygon, you mean to tell me that you haven't heard of the new Ford SVT high performance Taurus Station Wagon with the supercharged lightning engine, 150 hp shot of NOS, Tremec TKO tranny and centerforce clutch, titanium kanuder valves, and no-slip muffler bearings? Man, those things are wicked fast!!:D

He obviously can't read either. I don't know about anyone else but usually when i see a car, no matter what it is, if it says something along the lines of "twin turbo" or "turbo 2" or anything else that would suggest the same i stay away. THe only exception to this rule i can think of right now would be the new Escalade. It's running a twin turbo V8(i think, i can't remember which) thats pushing 560HP, but when the vehicle weighs 5700lbs...

Blackbird01

Escalade doesn't have a Twin Turbo V8.
It's a 6.0L LS1 derived motor.
I believe you can also get the 8.1L V8 as well.

150K and the thing is still goin. That's nothin for a regular car but a turboed engine usually doesn't run for half of that. That's good. I'm not a fan of Chrysler but that's just me. They aren't POS crappy shit bags though. I've never driven one. I can't say shit. But I do know that a Toyota 4runner is a POS. Over priced poo in a steal can. It's kinda like NASA, those retard pay a million notes for one hammer. You pay too much for a jacked up gas gusler that looks crappy and runs even worse. Poly I don't know you but you're cool because of fool that drive TOYotas. Dub for life yall.

Actually you fool My truck is not a pos Its a nice truck, And for your info I have 320,000 Miles on this truck, and it runs great , goes everywhere , and doesnt burn a drop of oil, you must be confusing my truck with your car, and btw toyota 4runners have one of the best resale values on the market, Its a good idea to think before you open your mouth, Just a little tip :flipa:

There's nothing wrong with Chryslers, per se. Granted, Minivans, in general, suck ass but as far as domstics go, Chryslers (incl. Dodge, Plymouth) tend to be the highest quality, most reliable of them. Personally, if I were to purchase a domstic car or truck I'd have to go with an Intrepid, Ram Pickup, Durango, Stratus or Avenger.

Now, you guys also have to understand, it can sometimes be difficult for us Toyota drivers to readily recognise the merits of domestic veihicles because, well, we drive Toyotas. It's all to easy to kick back mile after mile and watch our American car buying brethren take their machines to the shop, time and time again.

Polygon, that is one tight ride (is that pic of yours or one like it?).

dropedlex1, another sweet machine. Looks well maintained. I'm working on my exterior finish right now, hopefully I'll have a paintjob as good as yours.

Polygon, are you kidding about the Ford with the TRD sticker? That's just uncalled for. I mean, if you want to pretend you have NOS in a Ford, then by all means, go for it, but a TRD sitcker is not something to be placed lightly...

Mr. Spork

P.S. Toyota 4Runners don't typically have a rust problem, their first generation pickup counterparts, however, do (it's no coincidence the beds for most 84-89 Toyota pickups were built, painted, and installed stateside in SoCal).

K&N Drop-in air filter

What's up with that? Where are the intake kits, or AFM adapters for K&N Filters for the 86-88 22RE equipped pickups and 4Runners? My roomate has a Dreamspeed intake for his 98 Stratus and I'd like to see something simmilar on my 4Runner...

hey mastachi, try racing a escort cosworth. dont expect to see anything but its taillights!

what have u done to your eclipse?

mastachi
02-08-2002, 03:54 AM
i know cosworth's kick ass, but this car looked like it was about to fall apart. I got 17 inch Enkei Shutoko Rims, AVCR Dual Boost controller with scramble boost, Greddy Turbo Timer, Iceman Intake, and airmass exhaust system. NO STICKERS...I WILL NEVER GET NITROUS..NEVER!!

Blackbird01
02-08-2002, 08:41 AM
I will agree, Cosworths look fucking COOL.
If they sold 'em Stateside, I'd probably own one of those too...

Now as far as Chrysler goes, they are not shit. There MUST be a reason Top Fuel drag cars have been using a Chrysler derived motor for the past 20 years...

Also, to answer someone's question about whether or not it was a "Hemicuda" or a "Barricuda":
The name of the car is a Barricuda, however, it was offered with a HEMI motor (the most desireable) and so most people call the ones equipped with a "HEMI" motor a "Hemi 'Cuda"

My car has 18k miles on it. That's gotta count for something.....riiiight? :D

Taurus's aren't any good period, i don't care what ya do to 'em.
I raced a riced out LX version from '91 a few weeks ago in my Pontiac,
there was a '98 intrepid sport with him. I beat them both out, wasn't
even power shifting.

As for Chrysler, i'm just gonna say that i have understanding for both
views. My Colt is my little racer as i've beaten many a riced up Honda
in the thing, and it's a Dodge/Chrysler product STOCK. Good little car-
Quick, economical, good on gas. The only thing i don't like about it is
the tranny. Dodge and Chrysler seem to slump when it comes to
their transmissions, but i give them credit for the power and endurance
of their engines!

Nice work stompin the Taurus by the way! I'll be driving one myself
in the next few months, and i'll follow up what happens with that soon!

Peace Everyone!

fastrThanU
02-08-2002, 12:58 PM
in the beginning, a Barricuda was a Barricuda. until 1970. then, with the body style change, what used to be called a barricuda was now called a 'Cuda. when the 426 Hemi motor (named for it's Hemispherical combustion chambers, and rep as one of the meanest engines to come out of detroit) was checked off as an option, the name became Hemicuda. you also had the Cuda AAR, but that was another option package....

mastachi
02-08-2002, 01:28 PM

To answer Mr. Spork, thanks for the compliment on my car. The picture in my sig is the exact car with different wheels. I do need to get a new picture and scan it in. And he did have TRD stickers, you would be amazed at what people will put on their cars these days.

As for mastachi, the 440 Six Pac is one bad ass engine. In fact a lot of people feel it was superior on the streets over the 426 Hemi. I personally prefer the Hemi. :D

Plus you can get it in a lot of different sizes. The most popular being 426ci, 511ci, and the monster 528ci. Soon there will be a 360ci Hemi that they plan to put in the Trucks and Jeeps. They better build a car like the Charger to put it in.

nsx what u saw was probably a contour svt. a ford contour is the same as a mercury mystique, but there isnt a mercury svt version, only ford. the contour svt has i think around 230hp, and its the only contour u can get with a manual transmission, 5 speed to be exact.

You think 150,000 miles on a car getting 13psi is good. How about my first Thunderbird. An 1987 Turbo coupe with more than 180,000 still gets the factory set 15psi in 1st and 2nd and 10-12psi in the three remaining gears. Though it seems the clutch is the weakest part of this car. Just a few redline powershifts seem to have burnt that crittter. Turbo cars get such a bad wrap. No matter what they say, a factory turbo car has obviously got something going for it, not to mention the fact that those darn TurboCoupes can hold their own on any friday night strip. Not to mention the fact that you can build the tiny ford 2.3 turbo "half-an-engine" to well over 350 horsies. But weight is definetly the killer when it comes to T-Birds. Well, have a nice day and keep replying.
