Xylene is basically paint thinner that you can purchase at most local hardware/paint stores. Its main purpose of use is as an octane booster. As far as dangerous, the only things to be cautious is to not get it on any paint and use a capful of lubricant like Marvel Mystery Oil to prevent seals from drying up. Mix ratio is as follows
15 of 93 and 5 of 117 is 99
10 of 93 and 5 of 117 is 101
So 3:1 is 99 octane and 2:1 is 101

There is no hp increase by using high octane gasoline.
In fact the lowest octane you can use is the best HP wise.

tolulene also works.
increasing octane is only good for very high boost/NOS/compression.
do not use it on a reg. car.

Later,
Not true.
Howewer, without any basic knowledge of hydrocarbons and their chemestry I would recommend race fuel, or under some circumstances aviation fuel can be used or a mix of high octane fuel with a small amount of toluene or xylene (maybe 10% or so).
