Lowering Compression Ratio

I have a 1997 Integra GS-R that I'd like to turbocharge. I am a little bit weary of turbocharging it due to its 10:1 compression ratio. I was wondering, without messing with engine internals such as pistons, heads, etc, is there a way to reduce the compression to maybe 9:1, so I can run more than 7psi of boost? What about putting on a thicker head gasket? Any other ideas?

i believe a thicker head gasket would be the only way to do. i know a guy that runs 9 psi on a stock gsr it is all about TUNING!!!

I know a guy that runs 10psi daily and 15 psi for race on the stock block. Still going strong for almost 2 years now, all on a AFC hack. Like stated, its all about tuning. The stock b block has proven time after time that it can handle 300-400hp. The boost doesn't kill the motor, just the dumb fucks who attempt to tune it.

Shit on that note, I have been boosted for just over three years now on a stock b16a. I run 10 psi daily with occasional spikes at 12psi. You would be amazed what a stock b motor can do. To anwer your question though, the only way to decompress the motor without changing the pistons is a thicker head gasket. Check out inline-pro and cometric.

How hard would it be to take the headgasket off of my engine? I've never done it on a VTEC engine. Any different than a non VTEC engine?

10psi on a stock b16? isnt the b16 compression slightly higher than a b18c? i have a gsr engine and am going to be boosting soon.you say that usually the engine is killed during tuning, but when im tuning thats when im trying to get it working correctly right? when i find a place with a dyno, should i let the guys there do everything? i will have an fmu setup so there cant really be any tuning with that huh? im thinking of running vafc and bigger injectors til i can get a hondata. since u have 3years of boost experience on a stock block, id like some of your insight on this. idle problems etc? thanks!

who those boost levels seem kinda high to me
not saying it can't be done but i would never bring it above the recommended level on the kit
too scared to blow up my block
i'm poor can't afford a new engine hehe

What I meant was that bad tuning will kill a engine. Let a professional do it. If I were you, I'd ditch the FMU setup, they are pretty useless. I have been boosting for about 3 years now. I have another long-block sitting in my garage just in case. I went with the afc + 450cc injectors after the FMU and have kinda stuck with it. If I were to ever get a true standalone it would be AEM EMS. The strange thing is that I did my A/F on the dyno with the afc and I manged to get a almost perfect 12:1 across the board. Some problems I have encountered but fixed were, misfires, too fatt of a mix, iratic idle, and that just about it. DO a seach on the internet, they are tons of people running big boost on stock blocks as well a thick head gaskets. The 3mm HG is the route I was going to go originally, then I rode in a si with 9:1 CR and the same turbo. He had turbo lag like I couldnt believe.

I have a single cylinder engine that runs a stock cr of 12:1 I want to lower it a long way to 7:1, could i fit a spacer between the cases and the barrel, What else could i do?

:confused::confused::confused::confused: Umm what are you talking about? A single cylinder motor, like a gokart motor or something? This is also in the wrong forum man.
