switched out a 700R4 automatic and fluid is over flowing out of what appears to be the passing gear cable conn. when engine is off. I filled the thans. to just under top of 1 pint low line then drove to warm and rechecked, it was ok. Shut engine down and near running drip appeared until the add 1 pint mark and stopped. Is this to full to be draining that high above the fluid pan? Could the dip sticks be a different length on near same year of an 87 camaro with the 2.8L V6? I pulled this at u-pull-it salvage and don't remember if I changed dip sticks and/or filler tube.
TIA

correct me if i'm right, but arent you supposed to check tranny fluid while the engine is running? anyway check the vent tube in the tranny and make sure it's not plugged

yeah, you are supposed to check trans fluid with the engine running, thast probly your problem, although an incorrect dipstick is a possiblity. not sure on that one.
and hot gay rod, im impressed, that was a nice post, was that so hard???? :)

yes, filled while running, just little less than fullon the dip stick. then drive to warm fluid because it will expand a little after warm (air induced in fluid will show like expansion of fluid). I will be adding more fluid today and spray with powder deoderant to show exactly where leak is.. I have to use small mirror because leak is above trans. fluid pan mount flange. I just don't think the fluid level is supposed to be above pan flange that far.
