Additional Hood Latches?

I recently had my car broken into and am investigating some additional security measures. I realize that a wanted car is a stolen car, regardless of the devices employed - I am just trying to beef up security slightly.

I have a very simple Viper alarm which reacts when the car is jarred or entered. It is a basic siren in the engine compartment. In this case, the thief set off the alarm, quickly opened the engine compartment, and cut the battery wires to disable it.

It seems to me that the most foolproof way to combat this is to make the engine bay difficult to access. My first thought there was to add multiple release latches around the perimeter of the hood. Is this commonly done / are these parts commonly sold?

Of course, any other (preferably simple, cost effective) suggestions would also be appreciated.

Get an alarm that pages you when it goes off.

Goto your local DEI dealer and get the hoodlock system they have. It really works well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I believe that I am just going to go with some locking hood pins, the idea being that they will either be a deterrant, or that once the break in occurs, they won't be able to quickly clip the alarm.
