Help Identify This 4.3 Motor

Here is a picture of of a 4.3 in a Toyota truck engine bay. I kinda like that mini LT1 look of the manifold runners, but I understand that they only made that set up for a few years before going to a different type of system. Can anybody tell which type and model year vehicle this motor could have come from?

With my limited knowlege of the 4.3 I don't know yet what kind of EFI is best for a hot rodding a 4.3 project. Will the set-up in the picture support 250 to 300 hp ? Any comments on better EFI alternatives are welcome too.

I would have a hard time saying this is not my 93 S-10 W motor (CPI) but would need a few more shots.

I think the picture is from the mid-nineties. It is from the Downey Off Road Catalog (Toyota 4x4 and PreRunner stuff). I've had a copy since about 1995.

I need to find out what the terms CPI and TBI refer to. The manifold in the picture looks like TPI to me (Tuned Port Injection) :)

That engine is a CPI engine (Central Port Injection)
it has a central injector with poppet nozzles delivering the fuel to the individual cylinders

The engine your showing is in fact a CPI code W engine, telling the year is difficult, except they were only offer in S-10's from 93 or 94 and up. TBI is Throttle Body Injection which looks just like a carb except there are two injectors in there instead of main metering jets, etc....a TBI has a typical air breather on it, similar to any carb vehicle. As far as will this support 250 300 HP i'm not sure, i know my 91 TBI code Z engine has just a hair over 200 HP in it and it does really well :) and i think with a Vortec motor (code W) you would easily get those numbers with the right set-up...and i personally love the Vortec over the TBI, way nicer feel on the pedal, lots more power even from stock, everything is better in my opinion...throttle response, etc. Anyways hope this helped.

I'm confused. It has a central injector (one injector?)? Or does it have one injector on each intake runner near the head?
