The mustang was shocked by the Corolla

I drive a 95 Corolla 1.6 Air intake, ACT clutch cat back excaust, dropped rolling on 17's and that 60 shot of spray. I was going home one evening and I saw this mustang the only reason I noticed it was because it was really loud it was a newer one 98 or newer I kinda reved up to him and he just laughed so he reved back to meand I just shuk my head and he got pissed we were doing about 45 mph and he was like you want some of this V8 and I just smiled. He dropped down a gear and stayed next to me so I turned on my bottle and purged it and went down a gear so we took off and I sprayed him and pulled him by like a fender but I could still see him and when he looked over his eyes were so big we hit third gear and halfway through third I ran out of nitrious so we caught the next light and he could not believe he got beat by a corolla. So I'm representing all the underdog corolla out there.

Someone more familiar with Corolla's please answer me this... A 1.6 liter 4cyl. grocery getter with an intake and a 60 shot is making approximately how much horsepower? 180hp or 190hp tops or there about? That story sounds a little fabricated to me, or the mustang was one of the older V6's.

I care how much horsepower he has....If you are going to post a message bragging how you walked a mustang, supposedly a V8, with a vehicle producing considerably less horsepower, I am going to call BS. I'm not saying that a 1.6 can't compete with a larger engine, but in this particular case we know A) what car he has, B) what mods he has, and C)the supposed outcome of the aforementioned race. I will agree with you Rice Rocket...We don't know. We don't know what type of mustang it was. We don't know that it was a mutang at all. We don't know know that it wasn't a Chrysler K-car instead of a mustang. We don't know that it wasn't his mom's corolla that he was driving home from band practice when he dreamed up a story in his head that he thought would make him look cool on a car related site. And yes, I do know the other car, it's a mustang, or so we have been told. And from what I have heard about this particular Corolla, a V6 mustang would run him neck and neck to say the least, if not completely bury him. Don't get me started on the point that it may have even been a V8 Stang. Call it bias, call it common sense......but this is BS.

Ok it seems kinda weird to me, if your running 60 psi, shot whatever of nos, you better have more than a intake and a racing clutch. Just to let everyone know you cant run nos unless you have heads, rods, rocker arms, cams, cranks, and they all have to be high performance. sure you can run nos on a stock but you better make sure the race is worth your engine! And if the mustang sounded loud, that means dual exhaust, coming from atleast a gt. And gt's have great torque at that speed exspecialy when you throw it down a gear. And dont post a thread unless you can back it up, and dont expect someone not to disagree with you, exspecially if your the underdog! Hell ive seen crx's beat zr1's but they had more than 10,000 grand under the hood.

Umm one problem dipwad, 10,000 grand would be 10 Million dollars So before you critisize, goto school, and be carefull with long complicated words like exspecially (see above) it makes you look stupid.

60psi is 60 lbs of boost, that is impossible on any street car, your average street car's turbo is 6psi tops.

40~90hp shot dry kit is completely safe on most stock engines.

so we conclude that nitrous and turbo are completely different things and you don't even know what the hell you're talking about and are making a fool outta yourself.

Nitrous oxide contains oxygen, it helps your engine crank out extra ponies by adding oxygen to the combustion process. Torque and horsepower is created by burning the air/fuel mixture efficiently in the cylinder, not by spraying alone.

When gasoline is atomized, mixed with the extra oxygen from spraying, and burned in the combustion chamber, the result is a release of great amount of energy and cylinder pressure that pushes down on the piston and rotates the crankshaft. And so, if you can get the engine to burn more fuel and oxygen, it creates more energy and therefore more power.

Now for the different kinds of systems:

This is done to prevent gasoline from puddling in the manifold as it tries to turn the sharp corners found in many stock EFI manifolds.

Wet: nitrous and fuel are injected at the same point, usually directly under the carburetor or at the throttle body on tunnel ram style intakes.

Turbochargers use the motor's exhaust gas flow to spin the turbine, which in turn spins the air pump, this compresses the air flowing into the engine, therefore lets the engine squeeze more air into a cylinder, and more air means more fuel can be added which equals more power.

Nitrous as mentioned above uses the oxygen from the nitrous oxide in the bottle, not the exhaust gas to spin the turbine to get more air(oxygen) from the outside, therefore they are different.

HOWEVER.... a wet shot could mean the end of your car in one mis-used shot... whereas a dry shot is not gonna kill your engine right away.
