The mustang was shocked by the Corolla

I drive a 95 Corolla 1.6 Air intake, ACT clutch cat back excaust, dropped rolling on 17's and that 60 shot of spray. I was going home one evening and I saw this mustang the only reason I noticed it was because it was really loud it was a newer one 98 or newer I kinda reved up to him and he just laughed so he reved back to meand I just shuk my head and he got pissed we were doing about 45 mph and he was like you want some of this V8 and I just smiled. He dropped down a gear and stayed next to me so I turned on my bottle and purged it and went down a gear so we took off and I sprayed him and pulled him by like a fender but I could still see him and when he looked over his eyes were so big we hit third gear and halfway through third I ran out of nitrious so we caught the next light and he could not believe he got beat by a corolla. So I'm representing all the underdog corolla out there.

Someone more familiar with Corolla's please answer me this... A 1.6 liter 4cyl. grocery getter with an intake and a 60 shot is making approximately how much horsepower? 180hp or 190hp tops or there about? That story sounds a little fabricated to me, or the mustang was one of the older V6's.

really, who cares how much HP he has.... the mustang probably underestimated his car, or he might've had a V6 or whatever the reason may be... as long as he beat the other car... thats the only thing that matters... i think we've got some people here who are blinded by the fact that a 1.6 can beat a 6 or an 8 cylinder... doesn't matter what he's running or if the other guy is just stupid... as long as he beat the other guy right??? and you can't say it's not possible... i've seen a CRX eat out a ferrari... is the driver just stupid... maybe... did the CRX have turbo... yes... but still, for that particular race... the ferrari got beat... which is what matters.

I care how much horsepower he has....If you are going to post a message bragging how you walked a mustang, supposedly a V8, with a vehicle producing considerably less horsepower, I am going to call BS. I'm not saying that a 1.6 can't compete with a larger engine, but in this particular case we know A) what car he has, B) what mods he has, and C)the supposed outcome of the aforementioned race. I am annoyed when someone boasts of something that just doesn't seem right, and unless I missed something, this story is completely ludicrous.

And unlike the Crapolla, the Mustang's HP won't disappear when the bottle of superjuice is empty. The only reason the Mustang driver might have looked incredulous is because some idiot in a Crapolla thought his riced out, rolling on 17's, crap sounding chitmobile was something tough.
I might add that this Crapolla driver said that they were rolling at 45mph side by side when he hit the gas... He says he had him by a fender... well, that doesn't sound like a race, it sounds like riceboy here tried to suckerpunch a 'Stang and the 'Stang was pulling up to administer some serious ass kicking when they reached the light. like i said, it's not totally impossible he beat the other car... fairly or unfairly... the other car probably didn't even step on the pedal... it might've been a v6 and an automatic... the point is YOU DONT KNOW.
so unless you're totally biased or you know the OTHER CAR then you can't say it's totally BS.
In this race he beat the mustang, next time maybe not..... i guess some of you guys just cant accept that....

he may not win next time, but he won this time....we werent there, so we cant really say anything and be ABSOLUTELY certain......
and im saying CONGRATS TO THE 'ROLLA!!!
and about using nitrous........get your power however you want to.....i mean, if your car can handle a <insert number> shot of nitrous, go for it.....its not cheating or being puss......i could say equally that forced induction is puss.....but im not, get your power however you want, coz its YOUR car. If you had to build your car to another guys specifications OF COURSE youre gonna lose.....just do what you do, he'll do what he does.....itll all come down to who does it better...

I will agree with you Rice Rocket...We don't know. We don't know what type of mustang it was. We don't know that it was a mutang at all. We don't know know that it wasn't a Chrysler K-car instead of a mustang. We don't know that it wasn't his mom's corolla that he was driving home from band practice when he dreamed up a story in his head that he thought would make him look cool on a car related site. And yes, I do know the other car, it's a mustang, or so we have been told. And from what I have heard about this particular Corolla, a V6 mustang would run him neck and neck to say the least, if not completely bury him. Don't get me started on the point that it may have even been a V8 Stang. Call it bias, call it common sense......but this is BS.

Ok it seems kinda weird to me, if your running 60 psi, shot whatever of nos, you better have more than a intake and a racing clutch. Just to let everyone know you cant run nos unless you have heads, rods, rocker arms, cams, cranks, and they all have to be high performance. sure you can run nos on a stock but you better make sure the race is worth your engine! And if the mustang sounded loud, that means dual exhaust, coming from atleast a gt. And gt's have great torque at that speed exspecialy when you throw it down a gear. And dont post a thread unless you can back it up, and dont expect someone not to disagree with you, exspecially if your the underdog! Hell ive seen crx's beat zr1's but they had more than 10,000 grand under the hood.

60psi is 60 lbs of boost, that is impossible on any street car, your average street car's turbo is 6psi tops.
40~90hp shot dry kit is completely safe on most stock engines.
so we conclude that nitrous and turbo are completely different things and you don't even know what the hell you're talking about and are making a fool outta yourself.
Other than that back to the original story: Bullshit

Since you really don't know how nitrous works I'll enlighten you....stupid. :finger:
Nitrous oxide contains oxygen, it helps your engine crank out extra ponies by adding oxygen to the combustion process. Torque and horsepower is created by burning the air/fuel mixture efficiently in the cylinder, not by spraying alone.
When gasoline is atomized, mixed with the extra oxygen from spraying, and burned in the combustion chamber, the result is a release of great amount of energy and cylinder pressure that pushes down on the piston and rotates the crankshaft. And so, if you can get the engine to burn more fuel and oxygen, it creates more energy and therefore more power.
Now for the different kinds of systems:
Dry: no gasoline flows through the intake manifold, even though the nitrous is injected at the throttle body. In a dry system, the additional fuel is added through the fuel injectors. This is done to prevent gasoline from puddling in the manifold as it tries to turn the sharp corners found in many stock EFI manifolds.
Wet: nitrous and fuel are injected at the same point, usually directly under the carburetor or at the throttle body on tunnel ram style intakes.

Since you asked so nicely  I'll also inform you on that one...
Turbochargers use the motor's exhaust gas flow to spin the turbine, which in turn spins the air pump, this compresses the air flowing into the engine, therefore lets the engine squeeze more air into a cylinder, and more air means more fuel can be added which equals more power.
Nitrous as mentioned above uses the oxygen from the nitrous oxide in the bottle, not the exhaust gas to spin the turbine to get more air(oxygen) from the outside, therefore they are different.
So there you have it, you flame throwing, uninformed, and ignorant little prick

ok nismodrifs! I guess it wasnt clear that i was being sarcastic, in my post, but hey we make mistakes its ok! N20 contracts your fuel allowing you to put more into your piston, which causes more explosion, which turns the crank, which turns the flywhell, drive shaft, rearend and then your wheels. Yes i know how it fucking works! If youll notice i posted a thread about turbos and super chargers before discussing the differences! turbo runs off the exhaust, and super off the crank! I know what im talking about thankyou very much! i never new that you were so mean cowboy, you kinda hurt my feelings. ha ha:hehehe: :hehehe: :hehehe:

I'm with bluevette... about anything that makes the burning of the fuel more violent will cause your engine to wear down more quickly --- even if it's just a miniscule amount of nitrous like 25 shot. For an instant ur combustion chamber temps shoot up ever so slightly.

HOWEVER.... a wet shot could mean the end of your car in one mis-used shot... whereas a dry shot is not gonna kill your engine right away.

Sure man, no problem. I will have to find some wheels and tires for it though. Right now, it's sitting on cinder blocks...:)

I can't bring myself to give "props" to someone who I think is telling a bare face lie. In all seriousness I want you import guys to answer me this. How many fast Corolla's have you ever seen or heard of running the stock engine? I dated a girl who drove a white Corolla, and the thing was a sardine can on wheels.

the thing is you can't say that he's fast! you can only say that the other car is slower...
i don't think you can bear to hear a mustang beat by a econo car even though (although we don't know) it was a cheat, truthful or by luck....

I don't have a problem hearing that at all, if it's remotely believable. What I can't understand is how people can come on here, pat him on the back, and say "good kill". What a joke. If he was in something other than a Corolla, I probably wouldn't have said anything at all. Are you so desperate to hear about an import beating a domestic, you will believe anything you hear? This one time, at band camp, I walked a top-fuel drag car in a Volkswagon bus. Oh yeah, I was also dating Faith Hill, but we broke up when I started playing professional football an invented Microsoft Windows.

like i said *geeze*
he beat him this one time! IS THAT IMPOSSIBLE? think for yourself just a minute, is there a slightest chance he could've beat him either by cheating, by luck or by whatever... if you say no then you're totally jaded... he could've lied but i'm not saying he did because i don't know either and i'm not saying he won too because he could've lied
what gets me is that you're so stuck on your opinion that nothing can move you.
If i post a movie of a crx eating up a ferrari would it help? --- i mean, it's a simple crx and its a FERRARI.... is that hard to believe tooo ?
and hey' if you're dating faith hill i'll pat you on the back too... because it's HIGHLY impossible but not TOTALLY impossible since i don't know you or her....
I can only show you the way NEO, you are the one who was to walk thru the door! RELEASE YOUR MIND!

Here's another *BAD* Example for you... before 9/11 no one would believe something that tragic could happen....
even when they KNEW that something would happen by the clues given to them from all over the plate ....no one took it seriously...
now that it happened do you even think it's *impossible* anymore...???
now adays nothing is impossible, you just gotta keep an open mind
JMO :o
*although the above example has barely to do with cars, i just wanted to post it to make some peeps think that hardly nothing is impossible now - by fate or by chance*

umm yeah, a lot of people maybe cant afford a cobra, or dont want to spend their money on that kind of car. Not everyone is into cars like we are, they just want somethin thats good on gas and gets em from place to place, these people pretty much make up the bulk of the market....and can be blamed for the deaths of the 300zx, supra, sportscar type imports, and i dunno, maybe the dead domestics too......
