question about selling car

Thanks for any help I may get. I put my truck on autotrader.com and I have a person who wants to buy it but now I realize I don't know exactly how to do it. I realize I will have to get some kind of contract for us to fill out over the sale, i still owe money on the car but less than what he is giving me and he is using a credit union to get the loan. Would I just get the contract signed, recieve payment. Pay off my loan and then send him the title from ford credit who I have the loan through? If so, would I then sign over the registration once the contract is signed? I also don't know what to do about the plates, would I keep those and turn them into DMV here in Virginia and he will get temp plates from DMV. Thats all I could think of. If somebody could please verify if this sounds right I would be most appreciative.
