I don't own a mac but I do use it on a regular basis. The reason behind it is for the desktop publishing capabilities. Anyone who tells you otherwise got to be kidding themselfs. Go into any reputable magazine office or graphics intensive business place and you'll find at least a trace of mac there.
Their ability to be computationally efficient when it comes to graphics and desktop publishing is amazing (plus they originaly and always have catered for that market) which is what makes them great.
What exactly are you trying to achieve in this? If it is for a home computer but your planning to do (some) desktop publishing, I'd recommand an IBM compatible pc. If its intensive desktop publishing go with the mac (if you can afford the high startup cost).
I don't like or hate the mac, but I use computer for their purposes. Everything is built for a purpose, if you use it accordingly then it will function the best of their ability and that of your trying to accomplish. It may sound corny but its true, its like trying to use a phillip head screw-drive on a flat head screw, it just won't work.

I've used a few older ones at school a few times and have even thought about grabbing one out of their dumpter to play with, but as Zeus said, its only good for its main purpose which is to be a work horse. Personally I prefer my PC because it can do anything from gaming, to word processing, to graphic design.

You might want to have a look at this link. It's more humor for mac owners than anything else. Its a list of facts "why a mac is better than a pc, and why a mac is better than windows."
http://www.13idol.com/mac/macfacts.html
But it does contain alot of relevant information.

Also this one, "why a mac", less humor, more information.
