I have been recently having problem with the hesitation around 3k rpm and up, replaced cap and rotor, wires, plugs, no difference...then just like 2 days ago my car started running hot. I replaced the thermostat, and it seemed to fix the temp problem-till i get on it then the temp will go up for a sec, then after i let off it will go back down, it never used to do that..also when the temperature problem started happening, the engine runs fine when i give it gas, but when it idles it puts like it's got a cam in it or somethin-lower idle speed and it instead of purring it's like blub blub blub blub blub like about 4 pulses a second...WTF!? And also when it does that white misty smoke like steam come out my exaust...someone said I might have blown my head gasket? any idea? i'm so sick of this SHIT

thanks

its most likly your head gasket. i had the same problem till i got stuck and had to bump start it just to get it home.
the head gasket is really easy and cheap to replace i think felpro has one for like 25$. if you dont have the money to get the head resurfaced make sure you clean it off real good with a razor blade. make sure you change you distributor o-ring too.

well i just got my distributor in today, so maybe I should wait till i replace the head gasket to put the dizzy in. and i'm gonna replace the valve seals too when i take the head off, make sure i have a nice running engine, 'cause one of my plugs had oil on it when i took it out the last time.

99% sure its your headgasket.

and to make it 100% sure..... look at your oil. pull the dipstick, is there a milky white on it? what about under the oil cap?

gauranteed there probably is?

are you loosing coolant?

btw, when you change the head gasket check the head to make sure it hasnt warped at all, cause if it has and you dont get it fixed it will continue leaking.

If you are keeping the DX, time for a upgrade to a metallic 92+ headgasket :bigthumb: Higher compression=more HP.

Depends on how thin you want it, the d16y8 is supposibly thinner than the d16z6 headgasket. They are both metallic. Pretty much any SOHC head gaskets 88-00 will work. If you wanna up your compression a little, get a z6 gasket, if you want it higher, get a y8.

Will these head gaskets fit the D15B2 motor as well?
