Counter strike help

ok guys I need some help here... I havn't played CS or TFC for some time now. I need a refresher course on how to get all my equip set back up for gaming... is gamespy still the best prog to use for searching active servers? is there a better one? if someone could take me through from start to finish on the set up I'd be grateful.

i believe CS1.6 now uses STEAM.. which i heard is crap.

Gametiger and HLSW now own. Gamespy always sucked. STEAM was actually pretty cool in its beta stages, but now it is sucky sucky :-\
CS 1.6 is pretty kickass, althought a bit "newb friendly". Weird glitches like the shield glitch and such hold it back, but remember its new :) If you can stand using STEAM, then I recommend it, but if you were used to the simplistic 1.5, you ight be dissapointed. If you ever used Battle.net, thats pretty much what they want to be like (cept on a shittier level...)

yeah I use battle net all the time for diable, warcraft and starcraft. I'll give it a try to see what's going on with in and check it out... thanks for the info guys... give me a couple months to freshen up on the skills and we can get a game together!
