ok, first off let me state that i know i'm not a honda guru, but i do know my fare share. second, i know that this thread should probably be in the Turbo/Supercharger/Nitrous section, but in my few weeks of being on AF, i have realized that the responses given from this section are pretty much the best, so i thank you in advance for your assistance.

1. i know the concept of hydrolocking (unfortunately by experience). water+engine=bad. now, if CAI (cold air intakes for those of you who dont understand) can suck up water, does that leave FMI (front mount intercoolers) succeptible to that fate also? at least with a CAI you can somewhat avoid puddles, but with a FMI, you cant avoid the rain all together.

2. when i comes to turbo's, i know that there are different sizes. right now i have a 90 accord and plan on getting a 94-95 civic ex(i'm ready for a stick and i have a few choices on my next car). temporarily, i plan on running a t25 set up at only about 6psi on that motor. i then plan on building up a crvtec and until i break in the engine, i would run a bigger to4e turbo. i know that was kind of off topic to my question, so i'll get back to it. if a t25 @6psi and a to4e @6psi (on the same engine) make equal horsepower because both systems are at 6psi? or would the horsepower on the to4e be producing more horsepower because it is a larger turbo.

i have tried to do my research and can find nothing on either of these topics. my reasoning for this is if they would make the same horsepower, then i would just buy the to4e and run that on the civic engine before i'm finished building the crvtec.

thank you in advance for your help.

|ps| eckoman_pdx, i dont mind your long replies as long as they are helpful

air isn't sucked into the intercooler, it just runs through it, the air is sucked up somewhere else then it runs through pipeing into the intercooler to get chilled then out the other side of the intercooler up up to the engine bay.

I voted CIVIC 'cuz I like the small cars better these days, and the aftermarket is better for the little guy. Good luck

Id imagine the water'd evaporate. Besides, if getting water on the track didnt disqualify you like it does, there'd still be people spraying mist onto their intercoolers for gains. Now theres the "N" tercooler or whatever it is, so thats unnecessary anyways, but it still wouldnt hurt.

What are you talking about? 5cyl? no civc came with a 5cyl, hell I don't think anybody has ever made a 5cyl, and if they did it would be an terrible motor to do anything with. It would not be anywhere near balanced!

I think hes talking about the vigor. Its a 5 cylinder.

It was made by acura, but has been discontinued... I wonder why?:screwy:

chill chill. yea i was talkin bout the vigor. y would i think the civic hadda 5 cyl. alotta auto companies make 5cyl engines such as Chevy wit the the new Colorado, and volvo have been using a I5 for years.

I dont the exact engine code for the I5 that was in the Vigor. I wanna say it was the J25A but i have a feeling that was a SOHC 2.5L VTEC engine that was in the Inspire/Sabre that made about 200hp. if any ones the Vigor engine code please post it.

the vigor comes w/ the G25A engine. to my knowledge, there weren't any vigors that came w/ v-tec in the US, but maybe in Japan (you know they get better things than us anyway). it comes with 176 hp and 170 lb/ft. of torque. although most of you say that no one makes anything for it, you are right, but that is where inovation comes in. i have a friend w/ a vigor with a custom CAI (used a short ram from an integra). it also has a custom 2.5" cat-back exhaust. he dropped it 2" using coilovers from 4th gen accord. we were going to go turbo w/ it, but he is deciding to sell it so he can have a supercharged V6 Eclipse. one of the main reasons i am considering the vigor is because as much as i love to race, most of the females that i deal with dont like the whole idea of racing. that way, if i get the vigor i have the luxury and then still have the get-up-and-go if i want it. you can check out my friends vigor at Pito's Vigor (http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/260943) .
