I am new to this sorry for the length of my post but I NEED HELP!

My son a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L HO AT.

We drove about 25 miles to visit with relatives. Stayed a few hours. Went out to start and warm vehicle up. Went back in the house for about 5 min.
When I came out she had died....NEVER happened before. Now she just cranks and cranks but won't start.

I am getting fuel. but no spark. Put on new RB and DC. Still no spark.

The coil has a 2 prong pigtail connected to it that I unplugged and connected my voltage tester to it. When I turn the key on I have fire, but when I turn the key to start the power drops to -0-. I am getting absolutely no fire out of the coil.

Can anyone guide me to some possibilities.

PS:
170,000 miles on Jeep.
No codes 12-55 only
Check Engine light never came on.

HI Try unpluging the crankshaft position sensor It"s located on the fuel rail at the firewall. The plug for it has wires coming up from the bellhousing.Unplug for 10 sec.plug back together if it starts you have a bad sensor. Dale

if you have a ohms tester. un-plug the crankshatf positon sensor and test the resistence of the sensor. the resistence should be about 200 ohms +- 75 ohms thats another way to see if it is your cause of your head aches. hope that helps

I found out it was the coil all along. I didn't know how to test until I talked with a buddy of mine who happens to be an ASE mechanic.
