How to Build a Killer 4.3 V-6?

I'm not finding much information on building 4.3 motors for high performance. A V8 swap is not an option for me so I'd like to build a torque oriented 4.3 for a 4x4 application. I'd like to find out what kind of results you can get with a 4.125" bore race block and a 3.75" stroke crank (301 cu in) running 9.5:1 compression. Since I won't be drag racing I'm not looking for high revs but of course I want as much streetable power as possible :icon16:

The project vehicle calls for a fuel injected motor because it needs to look smog legal, and I like the look of the 4.3's with the tuned port intake, but don't know if it's the best factory efi intake system for the 4.3. Can I make 300hp and a similar amount of torque with the stock efi manifold assuming I use a bigger throttle body, maybe injectors and computer tweaks?

What kind of heads should/can I run?

I'm new to this motor so please excuse my newness.

Matt

I was planning on maybe building a engine like that a total of 320 CID with a twin turbo setup esimated house power output 1200

I did a bunch of work to my 4.3 TBI (listed below) and it is in a 4x4 truck, i do alot of off roading and playing in the mud, and it does really well, especially with my posi trac. rear end. I think the only downfall of the CPI motor is that it has a balance shaft and i don't think you can get camshafts for them for any reasonable amount of money, mine was $485 Cdn which is steep, but when my buddy went to put on in his truck we couldn't get one...his is a 93 Vortec motor with balance shaft. Hope that helped some...

What kind of project are planning? There a lot of motors that would be better choices for a 1200hp goal. Why do you need to do it with a V6?

You must have quite a bit of torque to go 4-wheeling with 3:42 gears in the difs! Your truck looks real good too.

i just want do itjust to do it if i stick with the v6 max I can push is 1200hp other wise I was either going to use a 383 ci v-8 for 1200 hp or a 590 ci v-8 for 1800 plus I plan on spending about $10,000 for the engine maybe $15,000 since the only people that will race me now is the people with the v-8s I figure it will upset them a little more to know they got beat by a v-6 :evillol: besides better power to wieght ratio
