ignition

hello i was wondering if anyone has experience with ignition systems, because i have a 1968 ford galaxie 500 with a 390 and i cant get a spark from the coil. the coil is connected properly im sure. the distributor has poinet and sat in the rain without the cap on for one day. i was wondering if this could prevent me getting a spark from the coil.

first of all, try reposting this in the engineering/technical section.
secondly, It is entirely possible there is still water in your distributor causeing a short.
this could be dangerous, so I would recommend drying it out thoroughly before trying it again.
