Leaky '02 Tranny

The tranny on my '02 Caravan is leaking at the junction between the solonoid pack and the transaxle body. At this stage, it's just a nuisance, as it leaves 8-10 drops on the garage floor each night.

There's a warning on the solonoid pack that it is factory calibrated and must not be removed for service. Can anyone confirm if I can remove this pack to replace the gasket (if there is one)?

Anyone heard of this problem before? The car has only 66K on it. Seems a little early for a tranny leak. Tranny fluid gets flushed every 25K.

Thanks in advance.

The warning is reffering to actually dissassembling the pack. Drain the fluid and remove three long bolts holding it then replace the gasket. Before you start this pressure wash the area well to avoid dirt falling into valve body.

Thank you. I'll give it a try.

You know, after taking a second look, the leak appears to be coming from the cover to the solonoid pack, not the area where the pack mounts to the tranny. So I think I'm back to square-1.

Can I remove this cover to replace the gasket, or do I risk altering some calibration inside?

I don't think you can even get a gasket for the pack - and I personally have'nt had 100% success with the packs after disassembly of them. Try tightening the cover screws (Torx head) and if that does not work and this leak is the only problem then just replace the pack (about 200 bucks Canadian) Also make sure it's not something silly like cooler line right above pack or a sensor :)

I agree with gforster. If you open that pack forget it. Got springs and parts that youll never get back together. Not to mention it is calibrated. I would also check that cooling hose.
