GTO vs. 350Z vs. EVO8

I like the GTO's subdued styling. It speaks of power but it still looks likie a executive coupe. I woudl wait for the 05 however with the scoops and the exhaust positioned at both sides.
I like the Z's aggressive styling and the sports car feel. The amazing handling isnt bad either.
I like the evo's engine. Engine and the AWD. The exterior is nothing special but I do like it a little.
Overall I think The GTO is my favorite.

evo.
best handling, best 1/4 times, cheapest to mod.
unbelievably easy to get into the 12's, 11's, and 10's.
the cost of getting one into the 11's is dirt cheap compared to the other 2 cars. and it will still outhandle either car at the drop of a hat...
i like the subdued look of the car... but if you've seen it on the street, it actually looks meaner than either of the other 2.

that's a tough call.
you could get lingenfelter to build the GTO until it's unstoppable.
there's already been a 305z that's hit 215+ in the silver state classic (before it rolled from a blown rod, shredded tire)
the evo can be maxed out just the same, www.norrisdesigns.com has an evo7 demo car with 800BHP. and it hits 212. and it does 0-60 in under 3 seconds, 0-100 in 5.9 seconds.
so there's 2 maxed out cars. the GTO has yet to be maxed out here, but there are some hella fast holden's in australia.
it depends on your purpose. for straight line? GTO, b/c it's rwd and has the big v8... you can't really compete with that, no matter what, for a drag car...
handling, the evo is always going to have it...
but it depends on what your focus is.

i would choose the 350... it probably has better quality than the gto and i believe it has more potential than a lancer... think of it a 4 cylinder against a inline 6... there are already turbos that you can by for the 350 tha put down 417 at the wheels with just the turbo... thats my pic

for drag racing i disagree with you...yeah it might be cheapest and easiest to get good times...especially on street tires (compared to the other ones)
but repeated 1/4 mile runs will destroy the evo's tranny and diffs..its really not meant for that....its like the s2000 or the viper....cars that are not meant for drag racing
for handling the evo takes the cake by far folowed by the 350Z
for the 1/4 i would personally take the GTO its got an LS1 and the aftermarket for those is ridiculous and mostly desined for 1/4 mile racing

for drag racing i disagree with you...
i'm looking at the "overall" perspective...
yeah, if you wanted to build a drag car, the gto is eventually going to come out on top, like i noted in my second post...
but overall, and especially in stock form, the evo takes the cake...
hell, even slightly modded, the evo still takes it...

i totally agree with you the evo takes the cake performancewise easily
what i'm worried about is the fact that its drivetrain is suposed to be quite fragile if constantly abused in 1/4 mile launches

I like them all! I would have to test drive them all though to make my final choice though. They all have good things going for them...
Just wish I had a good job and could test drive many cars/buy 1. The only one I've seen in person more than once is the 350z (have seen 1 EVO going the other way...not much of a glimpse, and no GTO's)
Someday....(and they better have all the hot cars when that day comes that the car manufacterers are offering now....or else :banghead: )

Out of the box the evo is the best bet. Rally hasn't really caught on in America, but that is the real purpose of the car. The z is a grand touring car, but the evo is an actual race platform. Here in Japan, they do some sick things with the evo, but no one is messing with the z.

The GTO can be ruled out instantly- the Monaro's handling is simply too crude for this company- it's better than a Camaro, though- the Engine is all it has going for it really.
The 350Z Is a VERY nice car- but I still feelI'd take an Evo given the choice- more room, more seats, AWD and Vette humbling performance

I have a Z with a stillen stage 2 supercharger with intercooler, stillen headers, aem cold air intake, alum flywheel, stillen ss exhaust, crowler cams, venom ep3 injectors, and wiesco pistons. I am dyno running 598 hp and 507 ft lbs of torque. i also have a few other little mods like pulleys and stuff like that, but otherwise I have only spent about $13,000 dollars in mods and have increase my power by over 2 X

The GTO is too bland looking and as Jimster noted, crude. First to be eliminated.
The Evo would be my preferred mode of transport if it werent so damn ugly and lacking in character. If i wanted a rally special for the road it wouldnt be this, or any of the jap crap for that matter.
So overall i'd take the 350Z. Good handler with looks to match

I'm going to have to agree with Rakashas and go for the GTO on this one. The GTO could possible provide more for the buyer than the Z or the Evo on a regular basis. Its smooth and comfortable ride expand on its sedan characteristics, but a mere tap on the throttle cries out performance humbling power. It almost reminds me of an S4, its got the leisure and aggressive drivability in the same box. And also its LS1 tuned engine can give it the potential to pull on both of these cars at speed. It may not have the edge against the Evo on the track, but I wouldn't put it far from the 350Z. Also as far as interior goes, IMO it has the best interior out of these cars, considering it being a pontiac is saying a lot. I love the 4 leather bucket seats that come standard with it.

i like all three of these cars, and they all have good performance from what i read. on looks, i would say that they all look pretty good, but the lancer looks a little too boxy, or fat in the middle, and so i would have to rate that as the least attractive one, but it still looks pretty good for a sedan, while the 350z looks a little better than the gto in my opinion. if i was going to buy a car, id probably get the 350z. the reason why i like this car is that it has double wishbone all around, and the other two doesnt. its got rwd, good handling, and its the best balanced front to rear. its not too heavy like the gto, the gto's curb weight is like 3800lbs. i know that the evo probably handles better, and it ll probably turn out better track times, but i prefer rwd, and i can always improve the 350z's handling. i still like the evo a lot though, cause it handles so good with that close ratio steering, its a really well balanced car. i like the gto, i love its engine, and it handles pretty good, but it weighs too much i think. a test drive should determine my real decision, but for now, i pick the 350z.

hmmm.....GTO=Monaro=Commodore with the back doors weldedshut=a sloppy piece of work from as far back as 1993.
EVERYBODY has an Evo here- whether it be a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 or 8 they are the last thing in unique and look like crap, while the owners are usually wankers.
So it comes down to the Z in the end  One of my all-time dream cars, my dads business partner has a Silver 350Z Track It is one seriously mint-ass car.

I don't think anyone car argue with the notion (or fact :)) that Evo8 is the most 'moddable' of the 3. However, I am biased toward the 350Z, being an owner of one, and loving it :) I am actually planning on making it a pretty extensive project car, so we will see how it goes.

The 350Z is better then the EVO and GTO in almost every respect. I’d take it over the other two any day. Oh yea any one ever herd of Greddy? This car is relatively new to the scene and will gain backing by all major mod. Manufactures so watch out when it get hotter. Of course our buddies over there at trust are already up on the twin turbo, but what fun to squeeze them into that minuscule engine compartment. There’s room for improvement in all three.

i heard that to make the evo 8's pass crash standards in america, the front of the car won't accomodate a bigger intercooler which limits it's modability. if it were an evo 7 i'd take that first, then the Z, then a new c5(or c6) corvette and to hell with the new GTO
