Help with 93 escort, please!!!!!

My little escort has been jerking while on the freeway (four times in 20 min.). The transmission was recently flushed and the fluid is full. What could this be??? Should I dump it and get a new car, or get it checked out?

not knowing if its petrol or diesel or the c.c. makes it a little hard to diagnose your problem.a little more info might help.

Sorry, I don't know a lot about cars. what's c.c.? It's an automatic, and it takes gasoline.

two things, rifit your timing belt , or worse vacum leak in the manifold....

I think it's like a 2 liter.

jerking is normally linked to a misfire,check plugs and leads.then check air/vac hoses for leaks.

Gotta agree with Mechy1, sounds as if it's not firing correctly.

Check plugs, leads, vacuum pipes/hoses, timing.

If all the previous suggestions check out oK, you might want to check the Mass Airflow Sensor. Ours got fouled and caused the car to jerk and and the check engine light to come on. I just removed the cover, removed the sensor and sprayed it with high evaporative engine cleaner. It's been running fine. A mechanic would charge a great deal to replace the MAS.
