Fuel Pump question

I was wondering how the fuel pump is wired on my 89 delta 88. the pump does not turn on and I checked for fuel pressure by unhooking the fuel line and turning it over (sorry Im a back yard mechanic). I am hoping that my fuel pump is not dead and a wire has been crossed/disconnected/discombobulated. haha. well have to have some humor in it I guess. If there is a fuse or a relay I would not know where to look. Can anyone help me with my dilemma.

95% of car owners are back alley mechanics ...2% are real good at getting deals and paying other people to fix the car cheap...3% are total complete suckers anyways
i got the 92 but the fuel system shoudlnt be that different
you kinda need to have 2 people for this since one needs to turn the ignition on and the other to listen from the pump you should hear a constant wirring sound from the pump kinda hard to hear it when the engines running ...
if no sound then check the pump fuse located ralay center or fuse panel
also there is a test terminal located behind the battery to test the fuel pump diectly applying a 12 volt charge ..it looks like a wire with a connector looks like what the hell is this thing .....heheheh as for the wiring mine hooks into a wire harness so unless it's a different setup i'l check the schematics ......

well there is no fuel pressure at all so the engine won't run. the whirring sound usualy occurs for a second as soon as you turn the ignition on. There is no sound. so I have either blown a relay/fuse, or the fuel pump is cheesed. given that my 1988 delta 88 lost the fuel pump at 170,000 as well its most likely that the pump is gone.. however I would like to get out of this mess for the low cost of a relay/fuse given that I can put those in myself. I'm just curious where the relay for my pump is, becuase there is no fuse in the fuse box for it.
Thanks

Look in the maxi-fuse center I think it is in the center of the firewall under the hood. I think you are going to have to use a test light and probe the fuel pump wires to check for power while someone turn the key.

I agree with bustedratchet on this ...also
if you still have your owners manual it will tell you where the fuses are located ...
according to the haynes manual theres 2 relays the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump and oil light relay ,,there located along the firewall towards the passenger in the engine capartment .

I Owned An 86 And The Relay Was Located On The Firewall. There Should Be Three Relays In A Row Mine Was The Center Relay. If You Turn The Ignition On You Should Here A Click.

looked up the fuse location using my service manual ..the big huge thick thing the dealers use ....
it's a 20A center fuse located on the fire wall
the only other 20A is the horn
any luck get back to us....!
