1986 Monte Carlo Lowrider Progress

New thread because I couldn't be bothered with the old one, so I deleted it.
New progress with be in here because this week I have found myself doing alot to this model, just last night and today I smoothed the putty on the front piece, and smoothed the bodywork also. Today I made the speaker enclosure in the boot, I still need to make the styrene sheet for the top of the enclosure and putty all the sheets joints, the whole boot will be covered in red velvet.
Tonight I will continue fixing the body, sanding and puttying etc. I'll get pictures tomorrow, for now I have the boot install progress photos, the batteries will be 'hidden' so I can save them for a kit I don't do a enclosure in. I'm going to have a go at scratchbuilding some amps tonight for the subs. Tell me what you think of the proposed install, I'll be wiring the hydro pumps aswell as the engine. I scratchbuilt the steering column as I lost the kits one. I still need the passenger side rear light lens if anyone can help me with that. thanks for looking, check back sometime soon!!

You never finished this one??? I swear you did. It looks good.

Nope, never finished it. Worked a bit on the bodywork last night, it's a mock up stance too, I'm thinking of adjustable rear suspension so I can lift the ass and let it sit on back bumper. The front piece and bootlid are actually really smooth, I doubt they will need much work done now, the front needs touching up though. More photos:

Looks great! Think the adjustable suspension would be awesome. I've seen a candy lime green 62 impala convertible on 13'' daytons with the front set at stock hieght and the rear bumper on the ground. Talk about a fine ride.

Thanks man, yeah I would measure these out to be 15" reverse wires, they are Pegasus items from Antonio. One of the whitewalls is looking pretty bad, but I'm not going to replace it. Might be pics tomorrow but not the day after that, I'm probably going to get quite wasted tomorrow night (new years parties).
Closest ride we have to a 62 in the club is a 61 bel air, I don't know if it is up on our website yet though, its got 2 pro hopper pumps, white red interior chrome 13" reverse knockoffs.

That exhaust wont work too well if your doing the adjustable suspension. Try to lift the back of the car, and craaaaacccckkkkkk! there goes your exit pipes.

Purpura Delujo
01-01-2004, 12:11 AM
I'm aware that the Hydros would wreck the exhaust pipes if you jacked the back up but it's only a model and I couldn't be stuffed to customise the exhaust, I got too much crap I still have to do in the boot.

Looks clean Purpura, the ass up in the air is gonna look tight too. Can't wait to see it finished.

well that's cool, you coulda always made some smooth 90* bends with some styrene rod, from the muffler backs out to the sides of the car with side dumps.

Purpura Delujo
01-01-2004, 12:24 AM
Yeah I was thinking of all the different exhaust things but this is all I could be bothered to do, I glued the diff in aswell, I got bored last night because the TV in my room stopped working, well it is 35 years old.
The kit is the original Monogram 1986 Monte Carlo SS coupe, it's ahrd to get now and the only new released one is the shitty Aeroback.

86_SR5
01-01-2004, 12:27 AM
it's not shitty. I built it in dark red. but gave it to a relative, because the shitty 305 under the hood, with all the muscle cars I had at the time killed me to see it there. but hey, that's my opinion nad yours is yours. sucks about your tv. btw, where did those exhaust pipes come from, you made them? if so how?

Purpura Delujo
01-01-2004, 12:33 AM
AMT 1955 Ford F150 Flipnose. Yeah it does really suck about the TV, I just realised that tomorrow the music video programs are on all night, damn....
At least I still got my stereo and bean bag....

I don't know about the pipes. They are original, and look pretty good.
I'm liking the subs, and the whole layout of the trunk. Good work.

Woah, been awhile since some new flickas, but I fixed the exhaust and wired the engine. If in anyway you think the engine wiring may be wrong I can't be bothered to change it honestly. I now need a new bonnet and new rear bumper as well as the passenger side tail light and a steering column. But that might all pay off because someone i know is parting with the same kit.

Nice work on that MC Lowrider. I checked out your Unity Lowrider CC webpage. Looks like you have a cool club there. Some great cars. I really like the red 64 Impala.

In the wire,

Looks great Purpura. BTW, I don't know if you have ever seen the movie Training Day with Denzel Washington, but if you have, do you know if that is the same year Monte Carlo as the one in the movie?

1978 I belive, I'm not very sure.

Purpura Delujo

1979 That monte is, I have seen Training Day at least 50 times over ;) If you are hoping to get that Monte Carlo in plastic, you're out of luck, but there are a few promo models of them going around and that's it.
thanks for the props everyone, yeah I still need the parts Sigmaman, I'll PM ya, cheers!

J - I think you mean the Red 64 in the 2003 picnic flickas? The coupe isn't in our club, that's a ride from Sydney Style CC he just took his hydros out last year, I think he wants to put a bigger system in, they have a website currently building, I'll let ya know when it is up. Unity Australia only kicked off in 2001, so we are still building rides, and the majority of the rides in the club are Impalas and Bel Airs as you can see, we only have a few juiced rides. I'm hoping to get my car this year, when I do I'll hopefully be rollin it in 0-5, we'll see.

Good to see your work again! The enclosure is coming along really well. Engine looks awesome too. I believe it was an earlier model in the flick too. :smokin: It was still cool though

Pupura, it's a good Monte you've got going together there.

And there is a 1978-79 Monte Carlo in plastic, but good 'effin luck finding the thing. It's an old MPC kit that goes by the name "Wheeler Dealer". If you can find it, it's the only game in town.

It's due to be re-released by AMT sometime this year.

Hahaha, yeah the promos are easier to find though ;)
I hope they re release it, only having the common access to a 70 Monte (still got to get one) is pretty lame, need to add a few. I really want someone to start making Caprice models too.
