2000 GXE Maxima vs. 2001 Honda S2000

I am a newbie here and I would like to know whether I should use my maxima to race with 2001 Honda S2000?

An auto Max against an S2000? I don't think you would have much of a chance. If the guy in the S2000 really doesn't know how to drive you might be able to take him though. If he doesn't wind that blender up to 6000 rpm's or so and drop the clutch, it would probably be a close race.

I'm going off of the fact that Car and Driver was only able to get a 7.5 second 0-60 out of the S2000 while doing a street start. The thing has NO torque. They have improved the torque in the newer S2000's though as so many customers were complaining about it.

if the driver of s2000 was totally stupid and didn't know how to drive, he'd be driving a civic. if he has an s2000 and wants to race, that means he has some ideas of racing that car. I say stay away from him. Why waste your gas if you know what the outcome is anyway?

As stated already if he knows how to launch that S2k then you are going to be eating fumes but if he doesn't rev up the engine his 153lbs ft of torque will be no match for your 217ft lbs of torque.

Those things are beastly fast if you know how to launch them, 5.3 zero to 60.

hey guys, what is the best grade of gas should I use for a maxima cuz I don't want to waste money for 93 Octane.

don't waste the money for 93, just buy it and be happy. you go lower, you get problems. 91 shouldn't be a problem, but I think 93 is better

your car may ping. it's when the car's timing is too advanced for the grade of fuel being burned. the car actually makes a "ping" noise when you romp on the gas.

the piston will rattle inside the cylinder,that's what makes the pinging sound and i'm pretty sure it can cause scrapes and gashes. i'm not 100% on the actual physical damage it will do, but your car definitely won't be making full power.

The Maxima's VQ compression ratio is so high that it needs 91 in order to run that rate, that one of the reasons why the manual recommends 91.

If you put anything less than that, trust me you and your car will notice it.

Defintely start between 1800-2200 but only for 1 second or so and then make sure it is just before you start racing.
