Ok I installed a short shifter and now it seems like going into gears is harder. It's like you have to push that much harder to get it into a gear.
ANy help?
thanks in advance

ok I went to the car to try and describe how it is better...whenever I push the shift lever forward it seems like something is too tight. It's just harder than it should be...it goes into gear fine it just feels tight. What do ya'll think?

Did you follow the install directions?
You have have over tightened, not greased, forgot a piece. Go back & check your work.
Summit Racing has the stabilizer bushings for $10(energy suspension) they should be used with a short shifter, but won't solve your issue.
Which shifter is it?

don't know if thats the right lingo but by shift lever I mean the part the knob connects to

k one more question about my install it's rubbing the top of my exhaust and I was going to just bend it down but since it was on the rubber hangars and all that it gave. How should I go about stopping the rubbing or bending the pipe/heatshield? C'mon Ricochet help me out :D lol thanks

mine rubbed on the heat sheild also, I think it is unavoidable. I just cut the heat sheild off right behind the shifter. As an added bonus the exhaust pipe warms up my shift knob:iceslolan (cold steel shift knob and 10 degree weather NOT fun).

Whats rubbing, shifter, shift rod, etc? If it's the little nub(balance) on the shifter rod, then you trim/cut that off. Otherwise just bend the shit out of the way - shifter is way more important than exhaust.

I believe it is the little balancer...lol it's kind of looks like a wagging tail. when you move the shifter left to right it moves too lol
maybe ya'll will understand ;) thanks

There does that help? If it's the part(piece hanging down) circled in red, then you can chop it off or trim. . . Not the whole rod, just the piece hanging off.

I put my shifter in and it did the same thing, so i took it to a muffler shop they bent the pipe down so the shifter doesnt hit the piping. And now my shifter works smooth.

WAIT!!! I just called a shop, being that I'm having the same issue. They told me most auto parts places, custom or not, have replacement hangers for the exhaust. It will lower it just enough to clear the exhaust. Good luck

All they have to do is pull the hangers for the piping. Thats it!!!
