Brakes?

i seem to be having some trouble with my back brakes. they wear twice as fast as the front. someone told me that the back normally wear faster on four wheel disc brakes. i've got a 93 ls. i put about 500 miles a week on my car, and my brakes seem to go in about 3 months. my front brakes still work, i can feel them when i push on the brakes. i have replaced the master cylinder, proportioning valve, all new front calipers, and front brake lines. there are no leaks, and there is some brake dust on the front wheels, but alot more on the back ones. any input would help.

That is true, rear disc will wear faster than fronts because they are smaller. The first thing I would do is service the rear brakes:inspect/clean/lube.

Your main goal is to grease the slide pins & lube back of pads, shims, reatiners. This should be done about every 15-30K.
Were you having problems before replacing the fronts?
What type of pad on the rear - were the rotors resurfaced?
Your ebrake cable could be sticking . . . It's hard to pin-point 1 thing.
If you can't figure it out, take it to the dealer for a rear brake service - this should only cost .5hrs of labor($40-$50) When they find a problem, they will let you know. If it's easy, decline the repair & do it yourself.

Brakes are nothing to mess around with if you don't know what your doing.

O/T I posted about a brake service & some one put the grease on the front of the pads(part that touched the rotor) :disappoin :screwy:

there was really no problem except for air in the front brakes which i got rid of. i just always thought that the fronts wear faster. maybe im thinking of a car with drums? it was brand new everything except for back calipers. new pads, calpiers(except back) and rotors all around. hmm. i guess they might be working right. just thought that back brakes go last. thnx for the input

it's highly unusual if u have to replace any of ur brakes wether front or rear in less than 4 months unless of course ur driving it to death or ur in an autocross. brakes should be check every 6 months not changed. definately have someone look at if ur change brake pads every 4 months. i have 92 ls for almost two years and still my pads are good.

I have to replace mine every 6 months too, but I put about 50,000 a year on my XSi. lol fixin to turn the odomitor to 500,000 km
