resleeve vs. block guards

i know that if you want to run a higher boost on an engine, a good bet would be to resleeve the engine to strengthen the walls. i've been looking around and i have seen block guards. they say that they are an inexpensive way rather than resleeving the block. how would these compare to resleeving? ould it be smarter just to save hte $75.00+ and just wait until i can afford the resleeve kit? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im not much of an expert on this subject, but I know a guy whos pushing 306whp on a d16z6 at 16psi with just a block guard, so they can be an effective way of strengthening the block, but im sure resleeving would produce better results.

you you think that you be an ok solution until i could afford the money to resleeve the block?

Why waste the money if the sleves are only $75 more? Then you won't have to worry about how much boost you can run safely. Your best bet would be to save for sleves. IMO.

Thats not what hes saying. Hes saying would it be a better idea to just put the $75 that the blockguard would cost towards the cost of the sleeves.

Either way I would go sleeves.

I have the same question. It also would depend on who's sleeves you use. I'd imagine labor might set you back a good amount. IM gonna call tommorrow to find out. Ill let you know what my local shop quotes.

ok, i dont want to sound like a smart ass to you so if i do, i appoligize. i've priced a couple of block guards and the average price i saw was around $75. i've also priced some sleeves and they were no where near $150. if you could let me know where you found these, i would greatly appreciate it.

I just misunderstood your post I thought you said that the sleeves were $75 more than the gaurds. If you read all of the posts you would see that someone else corrected me before.

I've checked out some sites and you can buy sleeved blocks with rods and pistons(I think) for about $1600. That's a little bit more than $75, but still a good deal.
