Fitting Vent Rings

Hi all and greetings from the UK.

I have an '03 Hyundai Coupe V6, or Tiburon as they call it in the US...

I recently purchased some billet vent rings from Shark Racing - pretty good service and prompt delivery - only trouble is they don't come with any fitting instructions.

I've managed to fit the two rings that go on top of the dash at either end but I'm struggling to fit the centre rings - The old rings don't seem to want to come off and I'm reluctant to use too much force in case I wreck the dash. Anyone already fitted these or have any ideas on how to fit them?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks,
Wayne.

on my 01 tib, i did have to use quite a bit of force when getting the vent rings off. nothing bad happened. i think there were little balls in the plastic that you have to get over, which makes them hard to push out.

Cheers for that; I guess I'll try again and use a bit more force now then! :)

you do know about the clips that hold them in right? im assuming you do. just try to bend the rings around the little balls in the plastic, it is hard, but will work.

Wrum,

Simply take a straight edge rzor and place it between the ring and the dash. You need this to protect the dash. Then, take a hacksaw blade or box cutter and slice through the top center of the plastic vent ring, keeping the straight edge in front of your cutting tool. Once you're through, pull outwards on each side and the ring will snap off. The new garnish rings will fit onto the retainer very snugly. Throw the old rings away and you're done!

Skuuter,

Took your advice and hacksawed them last Sunday...

Thanks to the other guys also for your suggestions.

Wayne.
