Is this Car Worth It??

my friends aunt is offering him a 95 Civic DX Sedan Auto, power nothing for free. he and I are just gettin are license. but he doesnt have to much money. he would probaly just have enough for an engine swap. we didnt get a chance to look under the hood so i was wonderin if it was a D15 or D16. is it possible to swap in the 5spd tranny from a D16, or should we just do a LS/VTEC or D16Z6 swap. i like the fact that it doesnt have ne power no cd player and is lite as hell. i was also wonderin how much the car weighs. we are gonna turn this into a drag racer and is gonna be a project of ours, if u guys think its worth it.

Say what? Your just getting your licesne, but you have a 2002 WRX? I would suggest doing some research. Dx has a D15, DOHC can be tuned better than a SOHC. Yes it can be converted to manual. If he has enough for a swap, then he doesn't have enough to make a drag car.

but he has enough for the swap rite now. me, him and another one of my friends are dumpin a lil of our money into it. and yea i got a WRX cuz ive worked since i was 13 and was able to pay for it wit all the parts myself. Me and my dad had an accord wit tons of mods on it. which helped pay for.my parents dont give me handouts. i live in a shitty neighborhood in Jersey and got shit stolen from my car all the time including my accord. im lucky enough my parents are puttin me on there insurance plan. i acutally work for my cars and parts unlike some ppl. who get it from mommy and daddy and dont work for ir. i respect those who work for there cars and parts.

back to the civic. we have two engines lyin in the local tuner shop in my town. i got the choice of either a B18C1 or B20Z. We were thinkin of B20 block and B18 head. im good friends wit the owner so everything we dont install and they do were gettin shit done for almost free cept for the engines. and as for the transmisson goes we dont know if we should go wit the Si tranny or GSR. are there ne reel differences. we havent talked to the owner bout transmissions yet.

i say you get "wit" it and stop waisting your money on your friends car... not a good idea.

i think its a good idea. i can live "wit" wasting it on a honda. i dont see it as wasting it. im just tryin to make another honda fast and keep it out of the hands of a ricer.

i can speak english. the question is can u read it. i dont believe this is english class. and yea i did use the words 4 door "Auto" meaning automatic and drag racer. is there a problem. now are we gonna nit pick at the words i use & get back to the reel question. i need to know wat u guys think bout this car. I finally D15B7. so the engine has to go.

you are going to waste money on a car like that. yes, you can do an auto to manual swap. but it is expensive... you would need to get all of the parts from a similar manual car. pedals, clutch master and slave cylinders, clutch line, entire shift assembly, different computer, different gauge pack to get rid of the shift lights from the auto, also have to replace the center console the shifter comes through... and all this for a car with a value of lets say $5k being overly generous? wait, since it has no power anything and no vtec it is proy just a DX or something so the value is even lower.

if you really insist on doing this, and want to swap the engine or whatever, make sure you get a full swap that has motor, tranny, computer, shift linkage, and all the rest of that good stuff. that will at least give you a bit of a start on the parts you need to do the auto to manual conversion

I kind of get the feeling there is BS involved in this post. You say you and your friend are just 16 and somehow you saved up the money to buy a 2002 Subaru WRX. (I am aware you say you have been saving since you were 13. What are you in the damn mob? When I was 13 I wanted candy and toys, I didn't dream of having a WRX that didn't exist yet) But then what is this about the '99 Accord? Who's name are you typing under? the accord was mostly my dads and i helped him wit the work and some parts. it later got stolen. yea the WRX wasnt out yet in this country when i was 13 but when i had enough money i bought it used at auto auction for a very cheap price. cuz my best freinds dad is a car salesman for Lincoln/Mercury and goes to auctions so i went wit him and bought the car along wit my dad. this is going back 2 months or so. i no it sounds like im bullshittin u guys and this is rare to have a 16 yr old wit a WRX but its not BS. ive worked wit a landscaping buisness since i was 13 and have saved mostly all the money i made. i guess u can say im poor so i hadda get a job. so me and my brother hadda help support my family. w/e money i had left i would put in the bank. u guys dont have to believe me im not here to gain approval or respect cuz i have a WRX. im not out to gain fame for havin a fast car. and 99civic03 ur pics arent funny and are gay. it doesnt get me mad and i honestly think u have no life if u have to dig up pictures to try and piss me off.

before i posted this i thought bout the complications we would have wit the transmission. but i just wanted to know wat u guys thought. im beginning to think the this project aint gonna work financially. im gonna focus on my car. and we know someone that is selling a 91 CRX si at a decent price. so we may go wit that. but probaly the engine/transmission setup i mentioned before will probaly be the setup for this CRX, if he decides to buy it.

hell I'd take the auto 4 door and then sell it... use the money from that to buy the CRX. but I imagine that wouldn't go over too well with the aunt... lol

You know I just had a thought...since you have all this money, and are able to buy a WRX, I would expect you to have a digital camera, so why dont you go take pics of all this stuff so everyone will stop giving you shit.

yea those are 2 pluses over the sedan. i dont no if the sedan is powersteering.

If you have the pics on regular film, youll have to scan them on to your computer if you have a scanner, or if you dont, go to kinkos and pay 25 cents to use one of their scanners.

i dont got a scanner. but i just mite go to kinkos.
